#1 What is the reaction time between pouring stuff into a container & the scale registering it?

The scale will register the weight as soon as the stuff is poured.

#2 Is this a good scale for measuring new born kittens?

Not sure, we use it to weigh packages. I would think it would though being that kittens are little and scale weighs in grams, ounces and pounds.

#3 Can you switch from ounces to grams while the unit has an item on it?

Yes, when you place an object on the scale you can touch the unit button and get readings in ounces, pounds, and grams, without taking the object off the scale.

#4 How often do you have to recalibrate the scale? Frequently?

It automatically does a zero self-adjust every time you turn it on. I doubt you ever have to recalibrate.

#5 Does the platform/plate come off for cleaning?

Sorry, you cannot take the platform down. You can clean it with a clean cloth, it is easy to be cleaned.

#6 Can I put a bowl on it, zero it, then weigh only the contents of the bowl, not the bowl itself?

You can put any container, plate, bowl on it. just take note of the weight of the container and then you can figure out the weight of what you are weighing. I haven't been able to put a container on it and put the scale at zero but it's easy enough to figure out
