Bosch 600803370 Questions and Answers

#1 How long does the turbine blade unit last. 2. How to sharpen or get replacement ?

Mine still cut quite well for three years of quite intense cutting of many small branches and general field and garden pruning. It eventually needed a new cutter. it cost £285 which was rather a lot I thought. it was a complicated process removing the flimsy plastic hooding and legs etc to get the motor and cutter unit accessible. I needed to buy some long thin star headed screwdrivers as the normal replacement bits on a ratchet screwdriver have too large a fitting. I also had to purchase long allen key sockets and a wrench to suit in order to undo the four allen key head screws that secure the cutter. The motor unit needed to be anchored securely to my work bench with sash cramp and g clamps to hold it steady whilst undoing. I put a drop of oil on the rim of the new cutter that rotates in the head and then re-assembled everything. You need to watch getting washers on their screws when refitting the legs and I had to use a rubber mallett to pat the plastic cladding back into position for re-screwing down as it is quite flimsy (and sharp -wear gloves where you can).
Then once back together the cutter back plate needs adjusting with the screw and plastic knob to get best cut from the new blades. With the right tools and facility I think it would take half a day ; it took me longer as I was learning how it all fitted together as I went along!

#2 Will it handle soft green material, flower stems including leaves, sunflowers and general garden plants after flowering?

It's at its best on woody material, it munches down tree and shrub branches really well, but if there are still lots of leaves on the branches you need to do a bit of coaxing to get it through. You can use the supplied pusher to help or I have ensured that I mix up the shredding using a fairly naked woody branch from time to time to ensure any leaves get munched although due to the shape of the conical cutter leaves just tend to fall through. I am not sure it will perform too well with just soft garden waste without woody branches to help it along, that being said I think it's a really good machine if like me you have an array of tree and conifer hedges to prune and shred each year.
