XAVC S:
Records HD movies in XAVC S format. This file format is suitable for high bit rates.
Audio: LPCM
In order to record movies with [ File Format] set to [XAVC S], the following kind of
memory card is needed:
Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo
SDHC/microSDHC memory card (SD Speed Class10, or UHS Speed Class U1 or faster)
SDXC/microSDXC memory card with a capacity of 64 GB or more (SD Speed Class10, or UHS
Speed Class U1 or faster)
AVCHD (default setting):
Records HD movies in AVCHD format. This file format is suitable for high-definition TV.
Audio: Dolby Digital
MP4:
Records mp4 (AVC) movies. This format is suitable for WEB uploads, e-mail attachments,
etc.
Audio: AAC

Record Setting (movie)
Selects the image size, frame rate, and image quality for movie recording. The higher the bit-
rate, the higher the image quality.
1. MENU → (Camera Settings) → [ Record Setting] → desired setting.
When [ File Format] is set to [XAVC S]
Records high-definition movies by converting them to MP4 file format using the MPEG-4
AVC/H.264 codec.
