contact lenses, if present and easy to do and continue rinsing. If swallowed, rinse out mouth and

1. Fill small test vial to the line. 2. Add 5 drops solution #1.3. Place cap on the vial and swirl to

FREE CHLORINE READING: Within 2-3 seconds, compare color with chlorine standards on the left
to determine the free chlorine PPM level.
5. COMBINED CHLORINE READING:
Wait 1-2 minutes and compare again to determine the combined
chlorine PPM level. A large difference between the two readings ( more than 0.2PPM) indicates a
need for superchlorination.
Take water samples from depths of 12” to 18” away from the return lines. Rinse the test vial before
CHLORINE TEST
1. Rinse the test vial marked “Bromine” (BR) and ll to the line.
BROMINE TEST
2. Add 5 drops of solution #1 3. Place cap on vial and swirl to mix.
4. Match the color in the vial with Bromine acid Demand test standards on the right within 30
seconds. Make sure the BR marked side of the test block is being read. The results are read in parts
per millon (ppm). A desirable reading is 4.4 ppm. However, additional bromine may be needed to
maintain a proper level.
pH TEST
1. Fill a large test vial to the top, solid line.
2. Add 1 drop of solution #4.
3. Add 5 drops of solution #2. Place cap on vial and swirl to mix.
4. Compare the color with the pH standard on the right.
5. A desirable pH reading is 7.2 to 7.6. If the reading is 7.8 or above, acid is required. Using the same
water sample, perform test 3 for Acid Demand, noted in the instruction booklet.
ACID DEMAND TEST
1. Use sample water from the pH test.

Counting each drop, add solution #3, swirling between drops until the color matches apprximately
7.4. Check the Acid Demand Table or the amount of acid to be added to the pool.
TOTAL ALKALINITY
1. Fill a largevial to the lower dash line.
2. Add 1 drop of solution #4.
3. Add 2 drops of solution #5. Place cap on vial and swirl to mix.
4. Counting each drop, add solution #3, swirling between drops until the color makes a permanent
color change.
5. Mulitply drops of solution #3 used by 10. Read all warnings on the opposite panel before use.

NOTE: the cap must always be used with the test kit vial. DO NOT cover the test vial kit with ngers
during use. Avoid contact with the OTO solution.
