ELECTRICAL SAFETY
• Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Nevermodifythepluginanyway.Donotuseany
adaptorplugsinanyearthed(grounded)powertools.Doubleinsulatedtoolsareequippedwithapolarized
plug(onebladeiswiderthantheother).Thisplugwilltinapolarizedoutletonlyoneway.Iftheplugdoesnot

TOOL USE AND CARE
• Secure the workpiece. useclamporotherpracticalwaytoholdtheworkpiecetoastableplatform.
Holdingtheworkpiecebyhandoragainstyourbodyisunstableandmayleadtolossofcontrol.
•
Do not force the power tool. Thetoolwillperformthejobbetterandsaferatthefeedratefor
whichitisdesigned.forcingthetoolcouldpossiblydamagethetoolandmayresultinpersonalinjury.
•
Use the correct power tool for the job. Don’tforcethetoolorattachmenttodoajobfor
whichitisnotdesigned.
•
Do not use tool if switch does not turn it on or off. Anytoolthatcannotbecontrolled
withtheswitchisdangerousandmustberepairedorreplacedbyanauthorizedservicecenter.

• Turn power tool off, and disconnect the plug fromthepowersourceand/orbatterypack
fromthepowertoolbeforemakinganyadjustments,changingtheaccessories,orstoringthetools. Such

Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properlymaintainedcuttingtoolswithsharpcuttingedges
arelesslikelytobindandareeasiertocontrol.
•
Feed the workpiece in the correct direction and speed. feedtheworkpieceintoa
blade,cutter,orabrasivesurfaceagainstthedirectionofthecuttingtool’sdirectionofrotationonly.Incorrectly
feedingtheworkpieceinthesamedirectionmaycausetheworkpiecetobethrownoutathighspeed.
•
Never leave the tool running unattended, turn the power off. Donotleavethetool
untilitcomestoacompletestop.
• Never start the power tool when any rotating component is in contact with
the workpiece.
WARNING:USE OF THIS TOOL CAN GENERATE AND DISBURSE DUST OR
OTHER AIRBORNE PARTICLES, INCLUDING WOOD DUST, CRYSTALLINE SILICA DUST
AND ASBESTOS. Direct particles away from face and body. Always operate tool in a
well-ventilated area and provide for proper dust removal. Use dust collection system
wherever possible. Exposure to the dust may cause serious and permanent respiratory
or other injury, including silicosis (a serious lung disease), cancer, and death. Avoid
breathing the dust, and avoid prolonged contact with the dust. Allowing dust to get into
your mouth or eyes, or lay on your skin may promote absorption of harmful material.
Always use properly fitting NIOSH/OSHA approved respiratory protection appropriate
for dust exposure, and wash exposed areas with soap and water.
SERVICE
• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only
identical replacement parts. Thiswillensurethatthesafetyofthepowertoolismaintained.
•
Service your power tool periodically. Whencleaningatool,becarefulnottodisassembleany
portionofthetoolsinceinternalwiresmaybemisplacedorpinched.

EXTENSION CORDS
Grounded tools require a three wire extension cord.Doubleinsulatedtoolscan
useeitheratwoorthreewireextensioncord.Asthedistancefromthepowersupplyoutletincreases,youmust
useaheaviergaugeextensioncord.usingextensioncordswithinadequatelysizedwirecausesaseriousdrop
involtage,resultinginlossofpowerandpossibletooldamage.Refertothetableshownbelowtodeterminethe
requiredminimumwiresize.
Thesmallerthegaugenumberofthewire,thegreaterthecapacityofthecord.forexample:a14-gaugecord
cancarryahighercurrentthana16-gaugecord.Whenusingmorethanoneextensioncordtomakeupthetotal
length,besureeachcordcontainsatleasttheminimumwiresizerequired.Ifyouareusingoneextensioncord
formorethanonetool,addthenameplateamperesandusethesumtodeterminetherequiredminimumwire
size.

Guidelines for Using Extension Cords
• Ifyouareusinganextensioncordoutdoors,besureitismarkedwiththesufx“W-A”(“W”inCanada)to
indicatethatitisacceptableforoutdooruse.
• Besureyourextensioncordisproperlywiredandingoodelectricalcondition.Alwaysreplaceadamaged
extensioncordorhaveitrepairedbyaqualiedpersonbeforeusingit.
• Protectyourextensioncordsfromsharpobjects,excessiveheat,anddamporwetareas.

Check your work area for proper clearances before cutting.Thiswillavoidcutting

Do not cut oversized workpieces.
•
DO NOT cut nails or screws unlessyouareusingabladespecicallydesignedforthispurpose.
Inspectyourmaterialbeforecutting.

Before switching on the tool, be sure the blade is not contacting the
workpiece.
•
Keep hands away from moving partsandonthetopsurfaceoftheworkpiece.Donotplace
handsbelowworksurfacewhilesawisoperating.
•
Always allow the blade to completely stop beforeremovingfromtheworkpiece.Donot
touchtheblade,itishotandmaycauseaseriousburn.

UNPACKING AND CONTENTS

BLADE INSTALLATION
Checkthatthebladeyouareinsertingmatchesthematerialyouarecutting.Startwithasharpblade.Twistthe
Quick-ReleaseBladeClamp(4)asfarasitwillgointhedirectionoftheengravedarrow(counterclockwiseiffacing
thesaw).Slipthenewbladeintobladeclampasfarasitwillgo.Releasethebladeclamp.Thenewbladeshould
nowbesecurelyfastened.
CAUTION: Makesurethebladeissecurelyfastenedeachtimebeforeusingthesaw.
ADJUSTING THE DEPTH OF CUT
ThefrontPivotingShoe(5)canbeadjustedtochangethedepthofcutofyourreciprocatingsaw.Toadjustthe
depthofcut,loosenthetwofrontShoeLockingScrews(locatedonthebottomoftheSawBoot)byinsertingthe
providedAllenwrenchandrotatingcounter-clockwise.Setyourdepthofcut(Note:idealdepthofcutis1”deeper
thanmaterialtobecut),thentightenthefrontShoeLockingScrewssecurely.

OPERATION
SWITCH ACTION
WARNING: Before plugging in the tool, always check to see that the tool is
switched off. Accidently starting the saw could cause personal injury.
Thesawisequippedwithavariable-speedTriggerSwitch(1),andaLock-OnButton(2)forextendeduse.
To Start the Saw,depresstheswitch(1).Depressingtheswitchfurtherwillproducemorespeed.
forextendeduse,youmaysetLock-OnButtontorelievethefatigue.Depresstheswitchtothemaxspeed,
depresstheLock-OnButtontolocktheswitchon.Toreleasethelock-onbutton,depresstheswitch.
To Stop the Saw, releasetheswitch.IftheLock-OnButtonisinuse,depresstheswitchrstandthenrelease
ittostopthesaw.
OPERATING THE SAW
CUTTING ACTION
Thereciprocatingsawbladeisdoingmostofitscuttingasittravelstowardstheoperator.Dependingonthe
typeofmaterialandcuttingspeed,thiscancausesplinteringonthesurfaceoftheworkpiecethatisfacing
theoperator.Therefore,ifpossible,positionyourselfortheworkpiecesothatthedesired“good”sideofthe
workpieceisfacingawayfromtheoperator.
GENERAL CUTTING
Clampyourworkpieceifitisportable.Restthefrontshoeofthesawonyourworkpiece(besurethebladeisnot
contactingtheworkpiece)andstartthesaw.Startthecut,exertingenoughpressureinthedirectionofthecut
tokeepthebladecutting,andenoughforwardpressuretokeeptheshoepressedrmlyagainsttheworkpiece
atalltimes.Donotforcethecutorstallthesaw.Don’tbendortwisttheblade.Letthetoolandthebladedothe
work.Ingeneral,coarserbladesareforwood,plastics,andcomposites,andnerbladesareforcuttingmetal.
Chatteringorvibrationmayindicateyouneedanerbladeorhigherspeed.Ifthebladeoverheatsorclogs,it
mayindicateyouneedacoarserbladeorslowerspeedsetting.Replacebladeswhentheybecomedull.Dull
bladeswillproducepoorresultsandmayoverheatthesaw.
METAL CUTTING
Bladesspecicallydesignatedforcuttingmetalsmustbeusedforthispurpose.Youmayusealightoilasa
coolantwhencuttingmetal;thiswillpreventoverheatingoftheblade,helpthebladecutfaster,andpromote
longerbladelife.
WARNING: Wear safety glasses. Wear a dust mask if operation is dusty. Wear
hearing protection during long periods of operation. Support and clamp workpiece
securely. Keep your balance and don’t overreach.
MAINTENANCE
CLEANING
Avoidusingsolventswhencleaningplasticparts.Mostplasticsaresusceptibletodamagefromvarioustypesof
commercialsolventsandmaybedamagedbytheiruse.usecleanclothstoremovedirt,dust,oil,grease,etc.
WARNING: Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based
products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can
damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
Electrictoolsusedonberglassmaterial,wallboard,spacklingcompounds,orplasteraresubjecttoaccelerated
wearandpossibleprematurefailurebecausetheberglasschipsandgrindingsarehighlyabrasivetobearings,
brushes,commutators,etc.Consequently,wedonotrecommendedusingthistoolforextendedworkonthese
typesofmaterials.However,ifyoudoworkwithanyofthesematerials,itisextremelyimportanttocleanthe
toolusingcompressedair.

LUBRICATION
Thistoolispermanentlylubricatedatthefactoryandrequiresnoadditionallubrication.
