DynamicProcessing

Dynamicprocessingisusedtoimprovetheperceivedsoundquality.Itconsistsofagroupoftechnologiesthatcorrectandcontrol

audiosignals.Commondynamicprocessingmethodsincludereducingthevolumeofloudunwantedsoundsandamplifyingquiet

sounds.

IntheAxisproduct,thefollowingdynamicprocessingmethodsareavailable:

•Audioprocessing–Selecttoenableaudioprocessing,whichincludesequalizationthatbalancesthelevelsofdifferent

frequenciesandautomaticgaincontrolthatampliesweaksignals.

Whenselected,echocancellationandnoisereductionareautomaticallyenabled.

•Echocancellation–Selecttocancelechoesfromtransmittedsignals.Echoestypicallyoccurwhensoundstravelfromthe

speakerandbacktothemicrophone,orwhensignalsleakbetweenneighboringwires.Thesesignalswillbeidentiedand

canceled,savingusersfromhearingrepetitionsoftheirownvoices.

•Noisereduction–Selecttoreducebackgroundnoiseandenhancespeech.Unwantedprocessingnoise,forexamplemusic

playinginthebackground,willbeavoidedandspeechwillsoundclearer.

AudioInput

UsetheInputgaintocontrolthevolumeoftheaudioinput.Ifthesoundistoolow,chooseahigherdBvalue,toamplifythe

sound.Ifthesoundistoohigh,choosealowerdBvalue.TheLevelbargivesavisualrepresentationoftheaudiosignallevelindB

relativetothefull-scaleinputlevel.

•Green—thesignalisatagoodlevel.

•Yellow—thesignalisbecomingdistorted.

•Red—thesignalisdistorted.

UsetheEncodingoptiontoselectdigitalaudioencodingformat.

•AACrequiresalicenseforbothencodinganddecoding.AACistheleastcomplicatedandmostwidelyusedcodec.If

achievingthebestpossibleaudioqualityisapriority,AACistherecommendedcodectouse.AnAAClicenseisincluded

intheAxisproduct.

•G711isanunlicensedstandardcodecthatisusefulwhenintegratingaudiointoaVoIPsystem

•G726isanunlicensedspeechcodecthatismostcommonlyusedwithinthesecurityindustry.

Note

Ifrecordingaudiotoedgestorage,suchasanSDcardornetworkshare,useAACencoding.

TheSampleratedenesthenumberoftimespersecondthesoundissampled.Ahighersampleratewillprovidebetteraudio

quality,butalsorequiresagreaterbandwidth.

SettherequiredBitratedependingontheselectedencoding.Ahigherbitratewillgivebetteraudioquality.Alowerbitrate

mayhavelatencyordelay,butwillrequirelessbandwidth.
