Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS

certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The

Atemporarycerticate(validforoneyear)iscreated,enablingencryptionofalltrafctoandfromtheproduct,andthe

passwordcannowbesetsecurely.

2.Enterapasswordandthenre-enterittoconrmthespelling.

3.ClickOK.Thepasswordhasnowbeencongured.

SetPowerLineFrequency

PowerlinefrequencyissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedfromPlainCong(seepage67)

orbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault.

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause

imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.

complexity,usingupmorebandwidthforincreasedactivityintheimage,andlessforlowerimageactivity.Whentheactivityin

thesceneincreases,thebitratewouldusuallyincreaseaswell.Ifthereisasurplusinbandwidth,thismaynotbeanissueand

selectingVariablebitrate(VBR)willbesufcient.Butifbandwidthislimited,itisrecommendedtocontrolthebitratebyselecting

Maximumbitrate(MBR).Whentheactivityinthesceneincreases,VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtothecomplexity,usingup

morebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforlowersceneactivity.MBRallowsyoutosetatargetbitratethat

limitsthebandwidthconsumption.

TheMBRtargetbitrateworksliketheceilingofatent.Itlimitsthebitrate,whilemaintainingsomeexibility.Thebitrate

maybounceupanddownwithinthesettargetbutwhenitnearsthesettargetvalue,thelimitationkicksin.However,because

MBRwillalwaysprioritizeacontinuousvideostream,itallowstemporaryovershootsfromthetargetbitrate.Becausesettinga

ToaccessanetworkprotectedbyIEEE802.1X,devicesmustbeauthenticated.Theauthenticationisperformedbyanauthentication

server,typicallyaRADIUSserver,examplesofwhichareFreeRADIUSandMicrosoftInternetAuthenticationService.

InAxisimplementation,theAxisproductandtheauthenticationserveridentifythemselveswithdigitalcerticatesusingEAP-TLS

(ExtensibleAuthenticationProtocol-TransportLayerSecurity).ThecerticatesareprovidedbyaCerticationAuthority(CA).
