Installation Guide
This Installation Guide provides instructions for connecting AXIS A4011-E Reader to a network
door controller. AXIS A4011-E Reader is an OSDP reader that is designed to communicate with
Axis network door controllers.

Identication Types
Identication types are portable credential storage devices, pieces of memorized information, or
various combinations of the two that determine how users will be granted access to the door.
Common identication types include tokens such as cards or key fobs, personal identication
numbers (PINs), and request to exit (REX) devices.
The reader supports the following formats:

To program the reader for MIFAREpClassic sector reading, a customer-specic setup card is needed.

Use a Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) compliant limited power source (LPS) with either
a rated output power limited to100 W or a rated output current limited to 5 A. For
example, AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller fullls these requirements when powered
by Power over Ethernet (PoE) or a SELV-compliant LPS.

Tampering Alarm
The tampering alarm switch and tampering alarm sensor can toggle between an open and closed
circuit. When the reader is removed from the surface it is attached to, or when the frontplate is
removed, an alarm event is sent to the door controller. In the door controller, the alarm event can
be used to trigger an action. For information, see the door controller’s User Manual.
DIP Switches
The reader can be congured through eight DIP switches that are located on the right side of the
circuit board. To change the conguration, remove the frontplate, and then ip the DIP switches
as required. For information about card formats and reader feedback, see the door controller’s
User Manual.

Install the Hardware
1. Remove the frontplate screw and remove the frontplate from the reader backplate.
2. Prepare the wall for installation of the reader. Hold the backplate against the surface
and mark the holes with a pencil. Make sure to use drill bits, screws and plugs that
are appropriate for the material.

3. Strip and connect the wires. For specications, see Power & Data Connector on page 8 .
4. Make sure that the silicone gaskets are positioned correctly.
5. Hook the frontplate onto the tabs on the backplate and push the front panel into place.
6. Tighten the screw.
