Machine does not
start or a breaker
trips.
1. Incorrect power supply voltage or circuit size.
2. Power supply circuit breaker tripped or fuse
blown.
3. Motor wires connected incorrectly.
4. Wiring open/has high resistance.
5. ON/OFF button at fault.
6. Motor at fault.
1. Ensure correct power supply voltage and circuit
size.
2. Ensure circuit is sized correctly and free of shorts.
Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.
3. Correct motor wiring connections.
4. Check/fix broken, disconnected, or corroded wires.
5. Replace button.
6. Test/repair/replace.
Machine stalls or
is underpowered.
1. Machine undersized for task.
2. Motor wired incorrectly.
3. Plug/receptacle at fault.
4. Motor overheated.
5. Motor bearings at fault.
6. Motor at fault.
1. Clean/replace sandpaper; reduce feed rate/sand-
ing depth.
2. Wire motor correctly.
3. Test for good contacts/correct wiring.
4. Clean motor, let cool, and reduce workload.
5. Test by rotating shaft; rotational grinding/loose
shaft requires bearing replacement.
6. Test/repair/replace.
Machine has
vibration or noisy
operation.
1. Motor or component loose.
2. Machine incorrectly mounted to workbench.
3. Motor bearings at fault.
4. Motor shaft bent.
1. Inspect/replace damaged bolts/nuts, and retighten
with thread-locking fluid.
2. Re-tighten mounting bolts; relocate/shim machine.
3. Test by rotating shaft; rotational grinding/loose
shaft requires bearing replacement.
4. Test with dial indicator and replace motor.
