Avoid placing cabinets ab{we the range. To reduce the
hazard caused by reaching over the open flames of
operating burnei_, install a ventilation hood over the
range that pr{_iects forward at least 5" beyond the fl'ont
of the cabinets.
The ventilating hood inust be constructed of sheet
inetal not less than 0.0122" thick. ]nst;dl above the
cooktop with a clearance of not less than 1/4" between
the hood and the undelside of the con]bustible
inatelial or metal {abinet. The hood inust be at least as
wide as the appliance and centeled over the ai)pliance.
Clearance between the cooking surtiace and the
ventilation hood sui{iace MUST NEVER BE LENS
THAN 24 INCHES.
ILXCEPT1ON: installation ot a listed microwave oven or
cooking ai_plian{'e over the {'ooktoI) shall {'onflmn to the
installation instructions packed with that ai)i)liance.
If {abinets are placed above the range, alhav a
n]inin]un] clearance of 30" between the cooking
sui-thce aI]d the botton] of unprotected cabii]ets.
If a 30" clearance between cooking silrelce and
overhead { on]bustible inatelial or metal cabinets
cannot be inaintained, protect the undei_ide ot the
cabinets above the cooktop with not less than 1/4"
insulating nfillboard covered with sheet inetal not less
than 0.0122" thick. Clearance between the cooking
sudace and promcted cabinets MUST NFVI_LRBE
LF.SS THAN 24 INCHES.
The vertical distance fl'oln the plane of the cooking
sudace to the bottoln of a@_cent overhead cabii]ets
extending closer than 1" to the plane of the range

CAUTION - Itelns of interest to children
should not be stored ill cabinets above a range or on
the ba{!<splash of a range----rhildren climbing on the
