TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
PROBLEM
Engine clicks but
will not start
Excessive vibration
Engine continues to
run when opera-

CAUSE CORRECTION
,, Weak or dead battery.
o Corroded battery termi-
nals.
o Loose or damaged wiring.
o Faulty solenoid or starter.
° Cutting too much
grass/too fast.
° Throttle in "CHOKE" posi-
tion.
• Build-up of grass, leaves
and trash under mower_
o Dirty air filter.
o Low oil level/dirty oil.
o Faulty spark plug
o Dirty fuel filter..
Stale or dirty fuel
o Water in fuel
o Spark plug wire loose.
o Dirty engine air
screen/fins.
o Dirty/clogged muffler.
o Loose or damaged wiring
o Carburetor out of adjust-
ment_
o Engine valves out of
adjustment.
o Worn, bent or loose blade_
o Bent blade mandrel..
= Loose/damaged part(s).
o Faulty operator-safety
presence control system,
o Recharge or replace battery.
Clean battery terminals_
Check all wiring
o Check/replace solenoid or
starter.
° Set in "Higher Cut" posi-
tion/reduce speed_
o Adjust throttle control
o Clean underside of mower
housing.
i ° Clean/replace air filter.
= Check oil level/change oil.
= Clean and regap or change
spark plug_
o Replace fuel filter
, = Drain fuel tank and refill with
i fresh gasoline..
o Drain fuel tank and carbure-
tor, refill tank with fresh gaso-
line and replace fuel filter:
o Connect and tighten spark
plug wire.
o Clean engine air screen/fins.
° Clean/replace muffler_
o Check all wiring.
o See "To Adjust Carburetor" in
Service and Adiustments
section
o Contact an authorized ser-
vice center.

bolt.
o Replace blade mandrel
o Tighten loose part(s),
