Lifting ability depends on the shape of load, the weight
and how the load is positioned on the AirShim.
Maximizing the AirShim’s Lifting, Shifting,
and Leveling Abilities
1. Center the load
on AirShim
If the load is not
centered, lifting is
reduced and the
AirShim may
slip out.

THE AIRSHIM’S ABILITY to lift and hold a
load depends on the shape of the load (narrow or
thin vs wide and flat), the positioning of the
cushion beneath the load, and the total weight.
The combination of these factors dictates how
high a particular load can be lifted.
WHEN LIFTING NARROW-EDGED LOADS
(like a glass shower door) position the load
lengthwise on an AirShim XL and/or use a board
between the AirShim and the narrow load to
distribute the load across more of the air cushion.
POSITIONING THE AIRSHIM so the load is
centered on the cushion helps avoid situations where
the AirShim could slide out from under the load.
THE AIR PUMP BULB is designed to come off
for replacement if damaged. In some extreme load
conditions, the bulb will pull off from the air tube.
However, the load remains lifted since the valve
controls the airflow. The bulb can easily be
replaced onto the air tube for additional pumping.
CAUTION SHOULD BE USED when lifting
appliances as their sharp edges can cut or
puncture the cushion resulting in rapid loss of lift.
THE AIRSHIM IS CERTIFIED by SGS to
hold 300 lb for one hour without losing air. The
AirShim XL is certified to hold 500 lb for one hour
without losing air.
