SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
THRO'I-I'LE CONTROL ADJUSTMENT
(See Fig. 44)
The throttle control has been preset at factory and adjustment
should not be necessary Check adjustment as described
below before loosening clamp screw If adjustment is
necessary, proceed as fellows
e Engine speed is controlled my movement of the throttle
control lever.
e Move control "B" to 'FAST" position
Swivel "C" should be against side of quarter circle
TO ADJUST-
e Loosen casing clamp screw "A"
Move casing arrd wire in direction shown until swivel is
against side of quarter circle.
Re-tighten casing clamp screw "A",
CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS
(See Fig. 45)
Minor carburetor adjustment may be required to compensate
far differences in fuel, temperature, altitude or load
NOTE: The aircleaner must be assembled to carburetor when
runningengine
INITIAL ADJUSTMENT
e Gently turn the idle mixture screw clockwise until it iust
closes, Turning screw in too far may damage it.
e Next turn idle mixture screw 1-1/2 turns counterclockwise
This initial adjustment will permit the engine to be started
and warmed up (approximately 5 minutes) prior to final
adjustment,
FINAL ADJUSTMENT
e Start engine and place throttle control in IDLE or SLOW
position
e Hold throttle lever against idle stop, and adjust idle speed
screw to obtain 1200 to 1400 RPM
While still holding throttle lever, turn idle mixture screw
slowly clockwise (lean mixture) until engine iust starts to
slow_
e Still holding lever, turn screw slowly counterclockwise
(rich mixture) until engine speed "u_ starts to slow
Turn screw to midpoint between rich and lean
Adjust idle speed screw to obtain 900 to 1200 RPM
e Release lever
If the engine does not accelerate properly, re-adjust
carburetor to a slightly richer mixture.
