Air filter
A dirty air filter can cause carburetor malfunction, start
problems, loss of engine power and wear to engine
parts. It also makes the engine use more fuel than
necessary. Clean the filter at an interval of 8 hours, or
more frequently if the product is operated in a dusty
environment.
Note: An engine adjustment can be necessary when
the air filter has been cleaned or replaced. See
To
adjust the engine on page 25
.
To do a check of a paper air filter
1. Remove the air filter cover.
2. Open the 2 hooks that hold the filter frame.
3. Remove the filter frame and the air filter.
4. Examine and clean the filter housing with a brush.
5. Examine the filter. Replace the filter if it is dirty or
damaged.
CAUTION:
Do not bend or fold the filter
as this can cause damage to the filter. A
damaged filter must always be replaced.
To clean a nylon air filter
1. Remove the air filter cover.
2. Release the hooks that holds the air filter.
3. Remove the air filter.
4. Examine and clean the filter housing with a brush.
5. Examine the filter. Clean the filter with warm soap
water. Replace the filter if it is damaged.
CAUTION: A damaged filter must
always be replaced.
To change from a paper air filter to a nylon air
filter
Use a nylon air filter when the temperature is below 5°C/
41°F.
1. Remove the air filter cover.
2. Open the 2 hooks that hold the filter frame.
3. Remove the filter frame and the air filter.
4. Examine and clean the filter housing with a brush.
5. Examine the filter. Replace the filter if it is dirty or
damaged.
6. Install the nylon air filter.
7. Close the 2 hooks and make sure that they hold the
filter correctly.
8. Attach the air filter cover.
CAUTION:
Do not bend or fold the filter
as this can cause damage to the filter. A
damaged filter must always be replaced.
To lubricate the bevel gear
1. Remove the cutting equipment.
2. Put the product with the grease plug at its highest
position.
