THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING POLSEN.
The Polsen RM-800 is a large-diaphragm, side-address cardioid condenser microphone that’s great for
broadcasts, podcasts, and voiceovers, but it also excels at recording singers and instruments. The microphone
features a large and highly sensitive 1.4-inch gold-plated diaphragm to capture the entire spectrum of voices
and instruments with detailed accuracy. The high SPL capacity, low noise, and wide dynamic range meet the
demands for clear and natural sound in both professional and project studios. The cardioid polar pattern picks
up the sound directly in front of the mic while it rejects off-axis sound, which is ideal for studio recording as
well as on-stage performance. To ensure great vocals, the mic includes a customized metal mesh pop screen.
Room and ambient noise is minimized by the selectable high-pass lter. And when recording loud sources,
the selectable -10 dB pad allows the microphone to maintain pure sound quality up to 155 dB. The RM-800 is
stylishly designed with a unique look, but it’s constructed with a metal housing for rugged durability.

MOUNTING THE MICROPHONE
1. Screw the shock mount onto the threaded post of a mic stand.
For 5/8-inch posts, remove the adapter bushing from the shock mount’s socket.
2. Once the shock mount is secure, loosen the locking ring on the bottom of the shock mount, and insert the
base of the microphone though the mounting hole.
3. Tighten the locking ring until secure.
4. If needed, adjust the angle of the microphone by loosening the locking knob on the shock mount. Be sure to
hold the microphone with one hand while performing this operation.
RECORDING WITH THE RM-800
1. Turn the speaker volume down, and use an XLR cable to connect the microphone to a preamplier, mixing
board, or recorder.
Note: Recording directly into a computer requires an XLR-to-USB adapter such as the Polsen XLR-USB-48.
2. Turn the phantom power on.
3. Turn the speaker volume up, and set the input level on the recording device.

For the best recording results, the microphone should point directly at the sound source.
Vocalists and announcers should be positioned approximately 6 to 12 inches from the microphone. For close
vocal miking, use the included pop lter to prevent vocal pops or plosives.
To attach the pop lter, snap it onto the stem just below the mic capsule, and make sure it’s directly in front of
the microphone.
HIGH-PASS FILTER AND -10 DB PAD
High-Pass Filter
To prevent low-end rumble like noise from air conditioners, ducts, fans, and room ambience, use the
included key to move the switch to the position and activate the lter.
-10 dB Pad
The -10 dB pad provides 10 dB of attenuation for high-volume sources that can produce distortion like
singers, live speeches, or band rehearsals. Use the key tool to move the switch to the -10 dB position and
