TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
CAUSE
• Loose or damaged wiring.
• Faulty solenoid or starter.

• Dirty air filter.
• Low oil level/dirty oil.
• Faulty spark plug.
• Dilly fuel filter.
• Stale or dirty fuel.
• Water in fuel.
• Spark plug wire loose.
• Dirty engine air
screen/fins.
• Didy/clogged muffler.
• Loose or damaged wiring.
• Carburetor out of adjust-
ment.
• Engine valves out of
adjustment.
•Wom, bent or loose blade.
• Bent blade mandrel.
• Loose/damaged part(s).
• Faulty operator-safety
presence control system.
•Wom, bent or loose blade.
• Mower deck not level.
• Buildupof grass, leaves,
and trash under mower.
CORRECTION
• Check all wiring.
• Check/replace solenoid or
starter.
• Set in =Higher Cut" posi-
tion/reduce speed.
• Adjust throttle control.
• Clean underside of mower
housing.
• Clean/replace air filter.
• Check oil level/change oil.
• Clean and regap or change
spark plug.
• Replace fuel filter.
• Drain fuel tank and refill with
fresh gasoline.
• Drain fuel tank and carbure-
tor, refill tank with fresh
gasoline and replace fuel fil-
ter.
• Connect and tighten spark
plug wire.
• Clean engine air screen/fins.
• Clean/replace muffler.
• Check all widng.
• See "To Adjust Carburetor" in
Service and Adjustments
section.
• Contact an authodzed ser-
vice center.
• Replace blade. Tighten blade
bolt.
• Replace blade mandrel.
• Tighten loose part(s).
Replace damaged pads.
• Check widng, switches and
connections. If not
corrected, contact an autho-
dzed service center/
department.
• Replace blade. Tighten
blade bolt.
• Level mower deck.
• Clean underside of mower
housing.
