Service Adjustments
Deck Belt Tension
It is recommended to check and adjust if necessary the
deck belt tension after the initial 5 hours of use on the hour
meter. The new belt will seat into pulley grooves and may
need adjusting. After the initial break in period, it is
recommended to inspect belt tension and adjust if
necessary every 8 hours. Follow the steps below to inspect
belt tension. Follow ALL safety precautions mentioned in
this manual when doing any maintenance on your mower.
Note: Failure to inspect and adjust the deck belt tension
can result in poor mowing performance and pre-mature
belt wear.

• Ensure the blade engagement handle is
in the "OFF" position.
• Open the floorboard and locate the
idle/clutch pulley(I) and turnbuckle(2).
• Set your deck heightto its LOWEST
setting (1.5 inches)

• Check the clutch linkage pre-load.
• If the spring and linkage assembly
(3 & 4) is too tight, the clutch will not
return and may cause the blades to
spin with blade engagement "OFF".
• If the spring and linkage assembly is
too loose, the spring will contact the
deck surface, or have more than 2" of
vertical movement between the linkage
(3) and the spring(4).
• To adjustthe pre-load, remove the cot-
ter pin and slide the linkage offthe
arm(6). Thead the linkage pivot in or out
to set pre-load as stated above.
