REPAIR AND ADJUSTMENT
NEGATIVE
(BLACK CABLE)
TERMINAL
BATTERY
a. Connect each end of the RED cable to the
POSITIVE (+) terminals of each battery (taking
care not to short against chassis). (Fig. 29).
b, Connect one end of the BLACK cable to the
NEGATIVE (-) terminal of fully charged battery.
c. Connect the other end of the cable to L.H. side
penel bolt (Fig. 19). NOTE: KEEPAWAY FROM
GAS TANK AND BATTERY.
d. Disconnect cables in reverse order:
1. L.H. Side Panel Bolt (Fig. 19),
2. Negative Terminal of fully' charged Battery
3. Postive Terminals
CAUTION: DO NOT USE YOUR BATTERY TO
START OTHER VEHICLES.

2. THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENTS
Never attempt to change maximum engine speed. This is
preset at the factory (3400 .*_ 100RPM) and should only
be change by a qualified service technician who has the
necessary equipment.
a Remove hood, page 23.
b. Loosen casing clamp screw until throttle cable is free
to move
c Move throttle control (on the dash board) to "Fast"

3 CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
NOTE: Adiust throttle control cable before making any ad-
lustment to carburetor Air cleaner must be asserobied to
carDuretor when running engbne.
Minor carburetor adjustments may be required to cornpen
sate for differences in fuel, temperature or altitude. Adjust
the carburetor fuel mixture as follows:
a Gently turn idle mixture valve clockwise ("-_) Fig 31
until it iust closes and then counterclockwise (_'-'_)
1 1/2 turns .
CAUTION: Valvernay be damaged if turned in too far
b. Start engine and allow to warm for five minutes. Make
final adiustments with engine runnbng and choke push-
ed in.
c Move throttle control lever (on dashboard) to slow
posit_on.
d, Hold governor control lever against idle speed screw,
and adjust idle speed screw to obtain 1200 to1400 RPM.

e While still holding the governor control lever against id)e
stop, turn idle mixture valve slowly clockwise !r-_)
(lean mixture) until speed just starts to slow.
f. Turn idle mixture vatve back to the midpoint between
rich and lean.
g. Adjust the idle speed screw to obtain 900 to 1200
RPM, ReFease governor control lever.
f. Move throttle control (on the dashboard) to "FAST".
If engine hesitates or dies. turn idle mixture valve ap-
proximately 1/8 turn counterclockwise (-J'_"_) until
engine wi!l accelerate as throttle control is moved from
"SLOW" to "FAST",
