1. Begin with a clean/empty re bowl.
2. Build a layer of dry kindling on the center of the grate, or place a natural re starter.

layer. Make certain the length of the wood is less than 3/4 the diameter of the re bowl.
4. Light the kindling or re starter using a match.
TENDING A FIRE
Once the re wood is burning, you may need to shift the wood to enhance the re as well
as add more re wood to create your desired re.
Using long handled re pit tools (tongs or poker), move the re wood and coals as needed
to allow air ow for more su cient burning.
DO NOT add ammable liquids (gasoline, diesel, kerosene, lighter uid or alcohol) to a
hot/lit re. If the ames burn out, enhance the re by adding kindling and more seasoned
hardwood. If additional wood is required, carefully place it on top of coals.
EXTINGUISHING A FIRE
If possible, allow a re to burn itself out. However, DO NOT leave a re unattended.
DO NOT use water to extinguish a re. This could result in injury from burner embers. It
could also damage the re pit.
Using re pit tools, spread coals/embers to allow them to burn out completely. DO NOT
attempt to move or dump the re pit until the re is out and the re pit has cooled.
Routinely clean and inspect the re pit to extend the product life and maintain safe
operating conditions.
DO NOT inspect or performance maintenance until the re pit has completely cooled.
Inspect all components and connections for signs of damage or corrosion. If corrosion is
found, remove as much corrosion as possible using a wire brush. Then repaint using paint
made for high temperature applications. If any hardware is corroded, replace with new
parts before next use.
NOTE: It is normal for the paint to discolor or burn o after repeated usage. To properly
maintain the re pit, remove excise corrosion and apply high temperature resistant paint.
