OPERATION
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Begin with a clean/empty fi re bowl.
2. Build a layer of dry kindling on the center of the grate, or place a natural fi re starter.
3. Place dry, seasoned hardwood onto the grate by stacking around and over the starting
layer. Make certain the length of the wood is less than 3/4 the diameter of the fi re bowl.
4. Light the kindling or fi re starter using a match.
TENDING A FIRE
Once the fi re wood is burning, you may need to shift the wood to enhance the fi re as well
as add more fi re wood to create your desired fi re.
Using long handled fi re pit tools (tongs or poker), move the fi re wood and coals as needed
to allow airfl ow for more suffi cient burning.
DO NOT add fl ammable liquids (gasoline, diesel, kerosene, lighter fl uid or alcohol) to a
hot/lit fi re. If the fl ames burn out, enhance the fi re by adding kindling and more seasoned
hardwood. If additional wood is required, carefully place it on top of coals.
EXTINGUISHING A FIRE
If possible, allow a fi re to burn itself out. However, DO NOT leave a fi re unattended.
DO NOT use water to extinguish a fi re. This could result in injury from burner embers. It
could also damage the fi re pit.
Using fi re pit tools, spread coals/embers to allow them to burn out completely. DO NOT
attempt to move or dump the fi re pit until the re is out and the fi re pit has cooled.
Routinely clean and inspect the fi re pit to extend the product life and maintain safe
operating conditions.
DO NOT inspect or performance maintenance until the fi re pit has completely cooled.
Inspect all components and connections for signs of damage or corrosion. If corrosion is
found, remove as much corrosion as possible using a wire brush. Then repaint using paint
made for high temperature applications. If any hardware is corroded, replace with new
parts before next use.
NOTE: It is normal for the paint to discolor or burn off after repeated usage. To properly
maintain the fi re pit, remove excise corrosion and apply high temperature resistant paint.
