#1 can you use liners on the slow cook setting in this cooker?

Yes, I did, only once for a special recipe.

#2 A user complained that the lining deteriorated and became unsafe. I the lining deterioration a general problem with this item?

I've only used it 2 times and there are no problems. I have several Cuisinart appliances and I'm expecting the same longevity and error free performance with this item.

#3 Is there a cookbook compatible with this cooker?

Any slow cooker cookbook can be used with this cooker. I often get slow cooker recipes off of the internet -- and everything I have tried has been very good. One plus is that you can brown meat and vegetables in this cooker before starting it on slow cook. Many recipes suggest browning first -- with another cooker, you would have to use another pan -- so this is a real plus. I like this cooker so much that I have two. I use it at least once a week.
