Troubleshooting
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE WHAT TO DO
Milk is not foaming?
Milk is warm or too
hot to foam.
Use cold, fresh milk.
Do not re-foam already heated milk.
Try reducing milk volume in jug.
Ensure light is illuminated and not flashing.
Try a different milk. Some milks produce more
froth than others. Experiment with different
milk options to achieve the desired result.
Adding dense ingredients like thick syrups,
heavy powders and large flakes can reduce the
amount of foam. This is normal.
Milk is not heating?
Ensure jug is correctly positioned onto the
power base.
Press POWER | SELECT button to commence
cycle. If the issue persists, contact Breville
Customer Service.
Frothing Whisk is not
moving or is dislodged?
The frothing lid is not
secured.
Ingredients have been added
too quickly.
Drinking powder may be
caught under whisk.
Secure the lid .
Add ingredients (if desired) slowly and in small
quantities.
Add milk/liquid BEFORE drinking powder is
added to the jug.
Frothing disk is making
a rattling sound
The frothing lid is not
secured correctly or
misaligned
The frothing disk is not
centered
Stop frothing cycle immediately.
Re-align the frothing lid and ensure the lid is
secured and leveled to the jug.
Foam has reduced over time
Frothing jug has residual
milk deposits.
Drinking powder may be
caught under whisk.
Perform a cleaning cycle as per instruction in
the booklet.
Add milk/liquid to the jug and secure the lid
BEFORE adding drink powder.
The Hot Chocolate,
Cappuccino and Baby
Latte (blue) LED lights are
flashing simultaneously
and the milk frother
is not functioning
Not enough liquid in the
frothing jug.
Liquid added to the frothing
jug is too hot.
Fill the jug with cold milk between the
MIN and MAX markings.
Add milk/liquid to the jug and secure the lid
BEFORE adding drink powder.
Not much foam has
been produced on Hot
Chocolate Setting
Some brands/types of milk and drinking
products perform better than others.
Experiment with different brands and types
of milk to achieve better results. Alternatively,
froth milk by itself and add drinking powder
after the milk is frothed.
Emergency stop
To stop operation at any time, press the
POWER | SELECT button.
Recipes
HOT CHOCOLATE
A heated beverage of shaved chocolate, melted
chocolate or cocoa powder blended with heated
and foamed milk or water and sugar.
CAPPUCCINO
A cappuccino is L espresso, L heated milk and
a generous final third of creamy froth. For added
finesse, dust with powdered chocolate.
CHAI LATTÉ
A chai latté is ¾ heated and frothed milk flavored with
¼ spiced tea concentrate including sugar and spices
and topped with ground nutmeg or cinnamon.
LATTÉ
Latté is a blend of L espresso to M milk made with a
single shot of espresso. Top with heated and frothed
milk, poured down the inside rim of the glass to give
a creamy consistency and perfect layer of froth.
BABY LATTE
A drink of velvety frothed milk garnished with drinking
chocolate, sprinkles or marshmallows. The milk is
heated to a lower temperature and served warm.
