Use Guide
Initial Setup
- Place the scale on a hard, flat surface (e.g., tile, hardwood). Do not use on carpet or soft flooring.
- Open the battery compartment on the underside and insert the 2 AAA batteries.
- The scale will turn on. The display may show "0.0" or flash briefly. Step on and off to activate it.
Connecting to the App
- On your smartphone, download and install the "INSMART Health" app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
- For Android 6.0 and above: You must also enable Location services for the app to find the scale.
- Open the INSMART Health app and create a user profile. Enter accurate personal information (height, age, gender) as this affects body composition calculations.
- Follow the in-app instructions to pair the scale. The scale's Bluetooth name will typically appear as "INSMART" or a similar identifier.
Taking a Measurement
For accurate body composition readings:
- Place the scale on a hard, flat floor.
- Your feet must be bare, dry, and making full contact with all four metal electrode areas on the scale's surface.
- Stand still during the measurement.
- Open the INSMART Health app and ensure you are on your profile.
- Tap the "Measure" button (typically a blue button) in the app.
- Step onto the scale barefoot. The LED display will light up and show your weight.
- Remain still for approximately 10 seconds. The app will indicate when the full body composition analysis is complete.
- Step off the scale. The data will sync automatically to the app.
Note: You can also step on the scale without the app open to get a simple weight reading on the LED display. The data will sync to the app the next time you open it while the scale is nearby.
Understanding the Display
The LED display shows numerical weight. During measurement, it may briefly show other codes:
- 0.0: Ready state.
- Lo: Low battery. Replace the AAA batteries.
Err: Overload error. The weight exceeds 180 kg / 400 lb.
- C: Calibration prompt. Step off and let the scale reset, usually if it has been moved.
Using the INSMART Health App
- View Data: See all 17 body metrics displayed after each measurement.
- Track Trends: The app automatically generates charts to monitor changes in your body composition over time.
- Multiple Users: Add unlimited profiles for family members. The scale will recognize different users based on their weight.
- Data Sync: The app can synchronize your data with Fitbit App, Apple Health, and Google Fit.
- Sharing: You can share your results with friends directly from the app.
Care and Maintenance
- Wipe the glass platform with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or submerge the scale in water.
- Store in a dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures.
- If the scale is moved or flipped, it may need to recalibrate. Place it on a flat surface and step on, then off, to reset.
- Replace batteries when the "Lo" indicator appears on the display.
Troubleshooting
- Scale won't turn on: Check battery orientation and replace batteries.
App cannot find the scale:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- For Android, ensure Location services are enabled.
- Restart the app and your phone's Bluetooth.
- Ensure the scale is within range (typically within 3-5 meters).
- Inconsistent or inaccurate readings:
- Ensure the scale is on a hard, flat surface.
- Ensure your feet are bare, dry, and positioned on all four electrodes.
- Recalibrate by removing batteries, waiting 10 seconds, reinserting them, and stepping on the scale on a flat surface.
- Only weight shows in the app (no body fat data): This usually occurs if your feet are not making proper contact with all electrodes (e.g., wearing socks, wet feet, or standing incorrectly).
Important Notes
- This scale is not suitable for use by individuals with implanted electronic medical devices (e.g., pacemakers).
- Body composition measurements are for personal reference and fitness tracking only. They are not suitable for diagnosing any medical condition.
- Hydration levels, recent exercise, and food intake can affect body composition readings. For best consistency, take measurements at the same time of day under similar conditions.
