IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed including the following:
Read all instructions before using.
1. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse
cord, plug, or motor unit in water or other liquid.
If Hand Blender falls into liquid, unplug from outlet
immediately, then remove Hand Blender. Do not
reach into the liquid without unplugging the unit first.
2. This appliance should not be used by children and
care should be taken when used near children.
3. Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting
on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.
4. Make sure the Hand Blender is in the OFF position by
releasing the power On/Off button, before unplugging or
plugging into any electrical outlet.
5. Avoid contacting moving parts.
6. Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord
or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, or has
been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the
Hand Blender to the retail location where it was
purchased for examination, repair, or adjustment.
7. Use this appliance only for its intended use as
described in this manual. Do not use accessories or
attachments, including canning jars, not recommend-
ed or sold by Philips Electronics North America
Corporation, as they may cause fire, electric shock or
injury.
8. Do not use outdoors or operate where oxygen is
being administered or in the presence of explosive
and/or flammable fumes.
9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter,
or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.
10. This appliance is intended for household use ONLY; it
is not for commercial or industrial use.

11. Any service of the Hand Blender should be per-
formed by the retail location where it was purchased.
12. To disconnect, release the power "On/Off" button,
then remove plug from electrical outlet. Remove plug
by gripping the plug body and pulling it from the outlet.
Never yank or twist the cord to unplug. Make sure the
motor and blades completely stop turning before
putting on or taking off parts.
13. During operation keep hands, hair, and clothing, as
well as spatulas and other utensils away from attach-
ments, blades and any mixing containers to prevent the
possibility of severe injury to persons and/or damage
to the Hand Blender. If scraping, folding, etc., is neces-
sary, Hand Blender must be turned off, by releasing the
power On/Off button and unplugged, and only use a
rubber spatula.
14. Never leave the appliance unattended.
15. Blades are sharp. Handle carefully and with caution
when removing, inserting or cleaning.
16. When mixing liquids, especially hot liquids, use a tall
container or make small quantities at a time, to avoid
splattering and burning. Always begin processing
at the lowest speed setting.
17. To avoid any injury, never place cutting blade on
base without first putting chopper bowl properly in
place.
18. Be certain chopper lid is securely locked in place before
operating chopper. Do not attempt to remove lid until
blade has stopped rotating completely.
19. When using mixing bowl, beaker or chopper, check for
presence of foreign objects before using. Always make
sure that rubber sealing ring is in the correct position on
chopper unit before using. The blender base/motor unit
is intended for use only with attachments provided. Do
not substitute with any other attachments.

20. Do not mount the wall holder over or near any
portion of a heating or cooking appliance or a sink or
basin.
21. Do not attempt to defeat the chopper lid interlock
mechanism.

SPECIAL POLARIZED PLUG
INSTRUCTIONS
This Philips Hand Blender has a polarized plug for an
added safety feature (one blade is wider than the other).
To reduce the risk of electrical shock:
Plug will fit into polarized outlet only one way.
If plug does not properly fit outlet at first, reverse it.
If plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT
THIS SAFETY FEATURE
The maximum rating is 200 watts, based on
using the stainless steel blending bar that draws
the greatest load (electrical power or current)
and all other recommended attachments may
draw significantly less electrical power or
current.

w Assemble the Hand Blender properly before plugging it into the
electrical outlet.
w Unplug the Hand Blender immediately after use, i.e. before
unscrewing the stainless steel blending bar.
w Avoid touching the SHARP blades, especially when the Hand
Blender is plugged in.
w Never immerse the motor unit in water.
w Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
w Do not exceed the quantities and preparation times indicated on
the table (located on page 6).
w If the blades get stuck, release the power On/Off button and
UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE before removing the ingredients that
are blocking the blades.

w Let hot ingredients cool down before chopping them or pouring
them into the beaker (max. temperature 80°C/176°F).
Using the Hand Blender
The Hand Blender is intended for:
- Blending fluids, such as dairy products, sauces, fruit, juice, soups,
mixed drinks, shakes.
- Mixing soft ingredients, such as pancake batter or mayonnaise.
- Pureeing cooked ingredients, such as for making baby food. To
obtain smoother results when pureeing add liquids when recipe
indicates.

1 Immerse the blade guard completely in the ingredients.

2 Switch the Hand Blender on by pressing and holding the power
On/Off button and selecting the most suitable speed setting.
Blend the ingredients by moving the appliance slowly up and
down and in circles. This Philips Hand Blender has a Twist &
Slice feature meaning one blade twists down, sharply cutting
through ingredients, while the other slices sideways.
Ingredients move continuously from bottom to top.
Note: Do not pull Hand Blender out of the ingredients or mixture
while running to avoid splashing. Do not put pits, bones, or
other hard ingredients into the mixing blend as they could
damage the blade.
w Always hold onto the Beaker when blending to avoid Beaker
toppling over.
C 3 The speed settings allow you to adjust the speed of the
Hand Blender to obtain optimal results. See the table for the
recommended speed settings in section “Quantities and
Preparation Times.” Release the power On/Off button and
unplug after using.
Using the Chopper
w
The chopper attachment can be used for chopping ingredi-
ents such as nuts, meat, onions, hard cheese, dried fruits,
chocolate, garlic, herbs, dry bread, etc.
1 Insert cutting blade into chopping unit.
w Cut large ingredients into pieces of approximately 1/2 inch/
1.5 cm before processing.
Note: Do not chop large ice cubes or extremely hard food, such as
nutmeg, coffee beans and grains.

2 Secure the chopper coupling unit lid by making sure it has been
properly fitted onto the chopper.

3 Attach the Motor Unit to the chopper coupling unit lid. Plug
Motor Unit into 120 V AC outlet. Press and hold the power
On/Off button to start chopper unit.
w If the ingredients stick to the chopper wall, loosen them by
adding liquid or using a spatula. Make sure the cutting blade
has stopped turning completely before inserting a spatula or
other utensil.
w Release the power On/Off button and unplug after using.

Using the Whisk
w
You can use the whisk attachment to whip cream, egg
whites, desserts, etc.

1 Attach whisk to coupling unit.
C 2 Attach Motor Unit to the Whisk. Plug Motor Unit into 120V
AC outlet. Press and hold the power On/Off button and
select desired speed.
w To obtain a good whipping result, please use a wider bowl.
w To avoid splashing, insert the whisk into the bowl, switch the
appliance on and whip the ingredients by slowly moving the
Hand Blender in circles.
3 Release the power On/Off button and unplug after using.

1 Attach the motor unit to the blade guard until it locks into
place.
Note:
When selecting a location to mount the wall holder, be sure to
leave enough room above the wall holder to remove the Hand
Blender. Also leave room below the holder to allow the
Hand Blender to hang freely.

2 A wall holder, screws and plastic anchors are provided. The wall
holder should be mounted vertically on the wall as pictured.
Do not mount the storage bracket/unit over or near any
portion of a heating or cooking appliance or a sink or basin.

3 After mounting the wall holder place Hand Blender on the wall
holder. Then wrap cord around and place it in the cord
storage.
Cleaning
1 Clean the beaker, the lid, the chopper, the blade unit of the
chopper and the whisk in the dishwasher or in warm soapy
water.
It is recommended to remove the rubber ring from the chopper before
cleaning.
2 The blade unit and the whisk of the Hand Blender can also be
cleaned by immersing the blade unit and the whisk in warm
soapy water and letting the appliance run for a while, on low
speed setting. DO NOT immerse motor unit in water.
3 Wipe the motor unit, the coupling unit lid of the chopper and
the coupling unit of the whisk with a damp cloth. Do not
immerse these parts in water!
