The central portion of the picture is enlarged to full screen on the LCD
monitor when the mode is set on
z and press the four-way controller
(
23). Adjust the focus with the four-way controller while looking at the
image on the monitor.
For distant focus
For closer focus
Press any buttons except the four-way controller (23) or take a finger
off from the four-way controller (
23), the screen returns to the normal
display two seconds later after the focus is set.
The autofocus mechanism is not all-powerful. Subjects which may not
focus are listed below. In this situation, use focus lock, press the shutter
release button halfway to focus on [ ] another subject that is equal
distant from the camera, recompose the picture while holding the
shutter release button halfway, and then take a picture.
a)Extremely low-contrast subject such as a white wall in the focus
points range.
b)Subjects which don’t reflect much light within the focus points range.
c)Subjects that are moving extremely fast.
d)Powerfully reflected light or strong backlight (subjects with extremely
bright backgrounds).
e)If vertical or horizontal line patterns appear whitin the focus points
range.
f) Multiple subjects in the foreground and background wihin the focus
points range.
If you take a picture while looking through the viewfinder when the focus
mode is set on Macro or Super Macro, the range of the resulting picture
will differ from what was seen in the viewfinder.
Be sure to check the image on the LCD monitor.
Manual Focus
Keep pressing the four-way controller (23) will move the focusing
position rapidly.
The central portion of picture is also enlarged in the Digital zoom
mode except at maximum magnification.
