Meet the B-hyve™ Hose Faucet Timer

Meet the B-hyve App Home Screen

Initial B-hyve App Setup

1) Download the B-hyve App

If you don’t already have the B-hyve App on your smart device, search for “B-hyve” and download the free Android or iOS app.

2) Open the B-hyve App

Create an account or login with an existing account to begin timer setup.

3) Add a Device

There is a wizard in the app to guide you through initial set up of your timer. In addition, there are help icons throughout the app with more information and useful tips.

Initial B-hyve Timer Setup

1) Insert Two AA Batteries

Batteries are not included and you will need two alkaline AA batteries to power your timer. Remove the battery tray and install the batteries according to the drawings located in the tray. Firmly reinstall the battery tray back into the timer.

Your timer is now in pairing mode and will flash a blue light every 5 seconds. You will also hear two clicks about 6 seconds apart, this is normal and ensures the valve is closed before you turn on the water.

  • If at any time you need to re-pair, press the on/off button quickly 5 times.
  • Replace batteries when timer flashes a red light every 5 seconds, or when the app notifies you that batteries need replacing.

If you remove or change the batteries, you will need to reconnect to Bluetooth to set the correct time and date.

2) Install the Timer

Connect the timer to an outdoor hose faucet. Your timer is now ready to be used with any product that can be attached to a standard hose faucet.

  • Do not place the timer in an underground valve box or anywhere your Bluetooth signal will be obstructed.

3) Turn on Your Water

The water must remain on for the timer to work properly

Additional B-hyve Timer Features

Manual Watering

Your timer has the ability to allow you to manually water without disturbing the programmed schedule. Manual is used to test equipment, run an extra watering cycle in an area, or to use the hose faucet without removing the timer.

Press and hold the on/off button for 3 seconds to activate manual watering. Using the B-hyve app you can set how long you want the preset manual cycle to run for. Go to Settings>Devices>Device>Preset Runtime. Default runtime is 10 minutes.

Stop Watering

You can stop the flow of water at any time whether it is during manual watering, or during a programmed time.

Press the on/off button once to stop watering.

Manual Watering

The LED Light on your timer will display different colors at different intervals depending how your timer is functioning.

Orbit 21005 Questions and Answers

#1 Can you set timer to turn on for ~16 hours then off for ~8 hours. Can you then turn off and during the periods?
You don’t have to do that. Just set it to run periodically, maybe multiple times per day. You can also turn the water off and on through the phone app manually, but there is no manual on/off on the valve. You have to operate it through the app.

#2 What is the minimum amount of pressure this can work under? Thinking about using it for a rain barrel.
I am not sure however, we have very low pressure at our house. It would not even register when I did the water pressure test. Sorry I can not help you more than that. I turns on by opening a valve so if there is water it should work.

#3 I was looking to have this control a misting system to cool my patio. Can i have it turn on water for 1 minute every 5 minutes over a 12 hour period?
I just looked at the app and it does seem to be able to do that. you would have to set it up to do that schedule for one day and then simply copy it to the other days.

#4 Do I still need to buy the hub for the faucet controller even though I have the b-have indoor 8 zone wifi controller?
Yes. The two systems are separate. The 8 zone controller uses WiFi to get instructions but past that every thing is wired. The faucet controllers are a completely different system. Same name but in addition to getting instructions by WiFi they then just used battery power to turn on and off.

#5 Do I need the the WiFi connection set to use this just as a remote on off switch for my hose bib?
No. You will connect to the faucet timer with blue tooth via your mobile phone app... download the mobil Orbit app and your set to go. I have to be within 50ft of the device for my bluetooth to work.

#6 Can you attach directly to spigot and then use a splitter so that you are using one timer with 2 hoses?
Yes you can split the flow down stream of the automated valve, but the flow may be enough for two sprinklers. It will depend in the type of sprinkler heads and the area you are trying to water. At my residence the water flow from one valve was not enough to cover the desired area using two oscillating sprinklers.

#7 How does the automatic rain delay feature in the app work if this device only connects to your phone over bluetooth?
Once set up with Bluetooth you can connect it to your WiFi if in range and it gets forecast from the internet. Mine are all connected to WiFi and accessible from my phone anywhere o have signal. I also have a WiFi sprinkler controller that will extend range to the house timers.

#8 Can it run during the daytime and stay off during the night?
You can set multiple timers for any weekday, start time and duration you like. Its not daytime/night time self aware it's what you program it to do for you.

#9 Can it run during the daytime and stay off during the night?
You can set multiple timers for any weekday, start time and duration you like. Its not daytime/night time self aware it's what you program it to do for you.
