Samsung RT32K503JB1/SA Questions and Answers

#1 The sides of my refrigerator feel hot. Is this normal?

You may notice that the outside of your fridge feels warm. This is normal and is caused by the heat dissipated from the refrigeration process.

If your fridge feels warmer than it should or hot to the touch, it may be due to insufficient spacing between your fridge and it’s surroundings. Ensure that there is a minimum distance of 50 mm of space free around the sides and at the back of the unit, and at least 25 mm space at the top.

Also check to see if there are any nearby heat sources that could contribute to the increase in surface temperature and remove it if possible. It is strongly recommended to install the refrigerator away from any heat source.

If you feel that your fridge is constantly excessively warm or hot, please contact us on 1300 362 603 (Toll Free in Australia) for further support.

#2 How to install the refrigerator water supply line?

To install the refrigerator water supply line, please follow the guide below.

Please be advised that full installation instructions are included in the user manual for each model and these should be adhered to.

The warranty for your refrigerator does not cover the water line installation. The water line installation will be performed at your own costs unless the installation fee is included in the retailer’s price. Samsung takes no responsibility for the water line installation. If water leaks occur, contact the installer of the water line. Therefore, it is strongly recommended for the water line to be connected by a qualified technician.

Note:

Water line installation kits are available at extra cost from your retailer. We recommend using a water line installation kit that contains copper tubing and a 6 mm compression nut.

Connecting to the Water Supply Line
1 First, shut off the main water supply.
2 Locate the nearest cold drinking water line and install the pipe clamp (A) and the shut-off valve (B).
3 Connect the water line installation kit (C) to the shut-off valve (B).
Note:

Only connect the water line to a drinkable water source.
If you have to repair or disassemble the water line, cut off 1/4“ of the plastic tubing to make sure that you get a snug, leak-free connection.
When flushing the water lines for the first time, water will not dispense immediately because air is in them.
You can test the water line by quickly using a paper cup.
Under normal conditions, the water dispenser can fill a 5.75 oz (170 cc) cup in about 10 seconds.
If you have been holding the dispenser lever for over 3 minutes and water is not being dispensed, verify that the water supply valve is open and that power is being supplied to the unit.
Do not mount the water filter on any part of the refrigerator. This may damage the refrigerator.

#3 How much free space should I allow around my refrigerator?

When you are getting ready to install your Samsung Fridge, one of the most important things to take notice of is the space around your fridge. Having too little space can greatly impact on the performance and life of your fridge, such as minimising over-heating.

Generally, all Samsung refrigerator models requires a minimum distance of 50mm for the sides and rear of the fridge and 100mm from the top of the fridge. You can find measurements specific to your type of fridge in the dropdown menu below.

The free space measurements refer to the distance between the fridge and other objects. (E.g. For the Bottom Mount Fridge, it has a width of 700mm and requires at least 50mm space on either side. A minimum space of 800mm is required in total.)

Please be advised that this is an Australian page, and all measurements are in the metric system.

In order to prolong the life of the unit, avoid installing your fridge under the following conditions:

In direct sunlight. This can result in discoloration of the refrigerator's surface.
In locations where the temperature range is between 10 °C and 43 °C. The refrigerator will not cool down properly if the temperature is too high. Also frost or dew may form as a result of too high humidity. Both conditions will affect the life and performance of the product.
On an uneven floor surface. This may cause the fridge doors to open unevenly, and may also result in refrigerator 'noise' being produced.
In a location where it is difficult to connect to a water pipe. This may result in the water connection to the fridge unit not functioning properly.
Provide room for maintenance and servicing.
Have adequate room for opening and closing the door.
