UsingtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceresidesinaprotected,hiddenareaofyourharddiskdriveor
solid-statedrivethatoperatesindependentlyfromtheWindowsoperatingsystem.Thisenablesyouto
performrecoveryoperationsevenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.Youcanperformthe
followingrecoveryoperationsfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace:
Rescuefilesfromyourharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive,orfromabackup
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenablesyoutolocatefilesonyourharddiskdriveorsolid-state
driveandtransferthemtoanetworkdriveorotherrecordablemedia,suchasaUSBdeviceoradisc.
Thissolutionisavailableevenifyoudidnotbackupyourfilesorifchangesweremadetothefilessince
yourlastbackupoperation.YoualsocanrescueindividualfilesfromaRescueandRecoverybackup
locatedonyourlocalharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive,aUSBdevice,oranetworkdrive.
Restoreyourharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackup
Ifyouhavebackedupyourharddiskdriveorsolid-statedriveusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogram,
youcanrestoretheharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackup,evenif
youcannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.
Restoreyourharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrivetothefactorydefaultsettings
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenablesyoutorestorethecompletecontentsofyourharddisk
driveorsolid-statedrivetothefactorydefaultsettings.Ifyouhavemultiplepartitionsonyourharddisk
driveorsolid-statedrive,youhavetheoptiontorestorethefactorydefaultsettingstotheC:partitionand
leavetheotherpartitionsintact.BecausetheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceoperatesindependently
fromtheWindowsoperatingsystem,youcanrestorethefactorydefaultsettingsevenifyoucannot
starttheWindowsoperatingsystem.
Attention:Ifyourestoretheharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackupor
restoretheharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrivetothefactorydefaultsettings,allfilesontheprimaryhard
diskdriveorsolid-statedrivepartition(usuallydriveC:)willbedeletedintherecoveryprocess.Ifpossible,
makecopiesofimportantfiles.IfyouareunabletostarttheWindowsoperatingsystem,youcanusethe
rescuefilesfeatureoftheRescueandRecoveryworkspacetocopyfilesfromyourharddiskdriveor
solid-statedrivetoothermedia.
TostarttheRescueandRecoveryworkspace,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffyourcomputer.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF11keywhenturningonthecomputer.Whenyouhearbeepsor
seealogoscreen,releasetheF11key.
3.IfyouhavesetaRescueandRecoverypassword,typeyourpasswordwhenprompted.TheRescue
andRecoveryworkspaceopensafterashortdelay.
