Before Riding

Is Your ATV Ready to Ride?

If you are carrying cargo, also check the following:

Check these items after you get on the ATV:

Cable Check the cable housings for wear. Check

the fittings for looseness. Replace or tighten

as needed.

Lights Make sure the headlights, brake light and

taillight are working properly.

Loading Limits Make sure you do not exceed the load limits

(page 70).

Cargo Check that all cargo is secure.

Throttle Check the freeplay and adjust if needed.

Press the throttle to make sure it moves

smoothly without sticking, and snaps shut

automatically when it is released, in all

steering positions (page 165).

Brakes Squeeze the front and rear brake levers and

step on the rear brake pedal to check that

the controls operate normally. Depress the

rear brake pedal several times, then check

for proper rear brake lever/parking brake

lever freeplay (page 182). Make sure there is

no brake fluid leakage.

Reverse Assist Lever Check the freeplay and adjust if needed

(page 167). Make sure the lever operates

smoothly without sticking.
