Testing your dinnerware or cookware

waterbesideit.Cookat 100%cookpowerforone
minute.If the dish gets hot, do not use it. Some
dishes(melamine,someceramicdinnerware,etc.)
absorbmicrowaveenergy,becomingtoohotto handle
and slowingcookingtimes.Cookingin metal
containersnotdesignedformicrowaveusecould
damagetheoven, ascouldcontainerswith hidden
metal (twist-ties,foillining,staples,metallicglazeor
trim).
Operating safety precautions
• Neverleanonthedoor orallowa childtoswing onit
whenthedooris open.
• Usehot pads. Microwaveenergydoesnotheat
containers,buttheheatfrom thefoodcanmakethe
containerhot.
• Donot usenewspaperorotherprintedpaperinthe
oven.
• Donot dryflowers,fruit,herbs,wood,paper,gourds,
or clothesin theoven.
• Donot starta microwaveovenwhenitisempty.

• Donot try tomelt paraffinwaxin theoven.Paraffin
wax willnotmeltin a microwaveovenbecauseit
allowsmicrowavesto passthroughit.
• Donot operatethe microwaveovenunlesstheglass
turntableis securelyin placeandcanmovefreely.
Theturntablecan moveineitherdirection.Make
sure the turntableiscorrect-sideup in theoven.
Handleyour turntable with care whenremovingit
fromthe ovento avoidpossiblybreakingit.Ifyour
turntablecracksor breaks,contactyourdealerfora
replacement.
•When you usea browningdish,the browningdish
bottommustbeat least3/16inchabovetheturntable.
Followthedirectionssuppliedwiththe browningdish.
• Nevercook orreheat a wholeegginsidethe
shell. Steambuildupinwholeeggsmaycausethem
to burst,andpossiblydamagetheoven.Slice hard-
boiledeggsbeforeheating.Inrarecases,poached
eggshavebeenknowntoexplode.Cover poached
eggsand allow a standingtime ofoneminutebefore
cuttingintothem.
• For best results,stir anyliquid several times
duringheatingor reheating,Liquidsheatedin
certaincontainers(especiallycontainersshapedlike
cylinders)maybecomeoverheated.Theliquidmay
splashoutwitha loudnoiseduringor afterheatingor
whenaddingingredients(coffeegranules,tea bags,
etc.).Thiscanharmtheoven.
• Microwaves may notreachthecenterofa roast.
Theheatspreadsto thecenterfrom theouter,
cookedareasjust asinregularovencooking.This is
one ofthereasonsfor lettingsomefoods (for
example,roastsor bakedpotatoes)standfora while
aftercooking,or forstirringsomefoodsduringthe
cookingtime.
• Donot deepfry in the oven. Microwavableutensils
are notsuitableand itisdifficultto maintain
appropriatedeep-fryingtemperatures.
• Donot overcook potatoes. Attheendof the
recommendedcookingtime,potatoesshouldbe
slightlyfirmbecausetheywillcontinuecooking
duringstandingtime.After microwaving, let
potatoesstandfor5 minutes.Theywillfinishcooking
whilestanding.
