Default app selection: Automatically set default apps or be asked before setting an app as
the default.
Set as default: Choose default apps for other functions.
Home screen: Choose a Home screen type.
Device assistance app: Choose an app that provides assistance for using your device.
Note: If you choose a default messaging app other than Messages (Google Hangouts
™
for example), you
will not be able to use the Messages app unless you restore it as the default messaging app.
Advanced Features
Configure features on your device that make it easier to use. For example, you can control certain device
actions by picking up the phone and by touching the screen with the palm of your hand or turning over the
device.
1. From home, tap Apps > Settings .
2. Tap Advanced features .
3. Configure the following settings:
S Pen:
• Air command: Manage the shortcuts displayed on the Air command menu. You can also
minimize the Air command menu into a floating icon that can be moved around on the
screen.
• Air view: Preview information, extend text, or enlarge pictures by hovering your S Pen
over the screen.
• Direct pen input: This feature allows you to switch from the keyboard to the S Pen when
filling in form fields.
• Pointer: The pointer appears on the screen when the tip of the S Pen is hovering close
enough. Holding the pointer over some features can reveal what an item is or what it
does.
• Detachment options: Indicate the action to take when the S Pen is detached from the
device.
• Screen off memo: Create action memos by detaching the S Pen while the screen is off
and writing on the screen.
• S Pen alerts: Set your device to sound an alert and show a pop-up if you forget to attach
the S Pen and walk away from it with your device.
• S Pen power saver: Turn off detection of the S Pen while it is attached to save battery
power.
