Important information about using your oven

  • This oven gets hot. When in use, always use oven mitts or potholders when touching any outer or inner surface of the oven.
  • When using the oven for the first time, you may notice smoke or a slight odor during the first few minutes. This is normal.
  • Be sure food or baking pan does not come within 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) of the top heating elements.
  • Food should not extend beyond the edges of the baking pan to avoid drippings from falling onto the heating elements.
  • Many factors influence cook times such as altitude, humidity and variations in electrical grids. For best results, monitor the end of the cook cycle.
  • Cooking Containers: Metal, ovenproof glass or ceramic bakeware can be used in your oven. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Be sure the top edge of the container is at least 1 1/2 inches (3.81cm) away from the upper heating elements.
  • Temperatures in the oven will be lower than your set point. This is due to advanced heating elements used in this oven. Temperature dial settings have been calibrated to provide expected results for most recipes taking into account the advanced heating elements.
  • You must set the timer or select Stay On for the oven to function.
  • You can cook your food 3 ways:
    • Use the bake pan/drip tray placed on the slide rack.
    • Place the bake pan/drip tray under the slide rack / broil rack .
    • Place food on Air Fry mesh rack

Black+Decker TO3217SS Questions and Answers

Find answers or Ask a question.
  • Total questions: 11
  • Questions unAnswered : 9

#1 Why is toast burning on edges before getting completely
done?
We are sorry to hear the edges of your food are burning on the toast function. I’ve already taken action by documenting your complaint, and I want to ensure that this issue is resolved to your satisfaction. Your product has a two-year warranty.

#2 Must the timer be 'on' to use the other functions? I want to
use my own kitchen timer but want the oven features to
work without the built in timer
A timer must be engaged for the toaster oven to power on. If you wanted to use your own kitchen timer for baking or broiling, we would suggest using the Stay On mode that is located on the baking control dial.

#3 Is the timer loud while clicking?
It will be normal to hear the timer ticking when set on any of our toaster ovens that have dials, opposed to a digital control panel.

#4 Is it normal to make a rattling sound when it is air frying?
It is normal for there to be some level of sound while the air fry function is operating. This is due to the convection fan.

#5 Cord is too short. Where can I get longer cord?
A shorter cord is provided to reduce tangling or tripping. You can use an extension cord or power strip if desired. The cord or strip should be at minimum the same wattage of the toaster oven, which in this case is 1,500 watts.

#6 What temperature does it airfry on since u cant set the
temperature?
The air fry function is set at 425 degrees (F) and is unable to be changed.
