IPower 1000W HPS MH DIGITAL DIMMABLE BALLAST Questions and Answers

#1 how hot will it get?

leaving on 20 hours a day ( i have two 600 i power light systems in my 4 foot by eight foot tent. the height is six feet high. with any amount of heat will really depend on having a good exhaust and intake fans that can move the air out and away from the 600 watt lighting . i have the eight inch fan with a controller that can change the volume of air coming and going. (4 AND 6 INCH FANS ARE O.K.) thou, the eight inch i power fan works the best for me more control of my environment, if you purchase the 600 watt i power without the tube cooler yes the tube will have a faster life span little less life span to the tube. DO NOT FORGET it is wise to replace them around every 6 months or so,regardless of the type of hood you will use the expense of the tube.i also have a closet tent four foot by two foot, height is five foot tall with a i power 400 watt system that has the cool air hood.and this setup that fits in my bedroom closet and it can get very hot because of the smaller closet and size.so i am now keeping the doors open(zipper doors)with additional fans blowing in.so the amount of heat that will stay in your tent will most certainly depend on the placement of your tent(basement is cooler)a small closet in your living space with lack of places that you can quickly create different conditions. is air conditioner on,is the heater on? how many plants. ideally what ever you choose to purchase i power is the better company out there today!for the actual question how hot will it get how much space you are going to use and can the intake and out take can vent in fresh air and how good the exhaust fan move the air away from your grow area.

#2 Will this plug in to a power strip on a regular household ac wall socket?

yes, but no,
the light must have a ballast, and the plug between a HID light and the ballast tend to be proprietary
the ballast plugs into a wall socket, so yes, it's a standard plug

#3 How much area will this light FUNCTIONALLY cover?

I have mine in a closet covering about a 3ft by 3ft area, almost 6ft from the floor. I'm sure it could be raised to cover more area with light in a bigger room like a 5ft by 5ft area in a basement or garage. It's a good product I have to say for the price and everything included plus I've had no issues so far. I'm looking forward to the end of December!!
