Yes, definitely the lid locks in place and you could easily take it with you. I've also noticed that it must be quite insulated as food stays quite warm for longer than expected when it's been turned off.

#2 Can this be used for "sous-vide" cooking?

No, sous-vide is a water bath process. This device uses steam and pressure, not temperature.

#3 How well could this substitute for a microwave oven?

Not at all the same type of technology.

#4 How many kgs of rice can you make at once?

No idea. Ive already cooked over 10 cups once, but never tried more than that.

If it is two distinctly different items, with our limited use of it, we would say no.

No, I don't have a pet bird. What is the connection? I have never heard about this bothering a pet bird. It just cooks with pressure and not any chemicals.

Some things microwave works better like small things for cooking instant pot is much better
