Schlage FE595VCAM619ACC Questions and Answers

#1 The answers don't seem to address this -- can this be used on a right-handed door or a left-handed door? Does it come assembled for left-handed? Thx

In this packaging the handle has to be attached to the lock. In store packaging it was attached, but can be removed. You have the option to attach it for a left or right door.

#2 Does the keypad have enough room between a typical door hole and dead bolt hole? Or is resizing necessary?

Resizing is not necessary, we still have our regular dead bolt in place and didn't have to change anything. This is a great keypad, I highly recommend it!

#3 Does this work like a dead bolt so that this would be the only lock needed?

No, this is a replacement for the regular door latch and lock. The FE365 is what you need for the deadbolt. I use both. Note: A locksmith can re-core the locks so they all use the same key for the key bypass. I find that simpler than having to keep a bunch of bypass keys.

#4 When you take the old door lock out does it fit in easily, do you use the old striker plate or does it come with one?

It comes with two stiker plates, one for square edge opening and one with rounded edge opening. It also has two locking assemblies, one for a single hole and one for the full size hole. It slide right in where the old door knob assembly comes out. For standard openings, there is no drilling or cutting or any woodwork needed at all. Again, it took me less than 20 mins to install.
