#1 Could you please tell me how I can get the suction control to still be functional after I press the hose onto the hose holder?

The suction control valve for the BU1017 is only functional for above floor cleaning. It is not functional when attached to the hose holder for floor cleaning. Thanks for your question! –Kenmore Support

#2 How do cats feel about your vacuum?

My cats have never liked any vacuum.

#3 How bad is the exhaust? I hate vacuums that blow around debris before they get to pick it up!

I haven’t noticed any blowing around of debris. This is a great powerful vacuum and I am so glad I bought it.

#4 Does it have a dirt sensor?

My old one which was very similar to this had a dirt sensor. This one does not, at least that I have figured out.

#5 Does this come with any bags?

Mine came with five bags.

#6 Is the suction good between floor and walls?

Yes, this vac has excellent suction on both carpet and hard floors/walls.
