This Clipper Has Been Designed For Household Use Only
OIL
The blades of your new clipper should be oiled every
few haircuts. Place a few drops of Wahl Clipper Oil
on the teeth of the blades as well as at the back of the
blade. Use only the Wahl Clipper Oil included in the
pack. Do not use hair oil, grease or any oil mixed with
kerosene or any solvent.
POWER SCREW
Your clipper has a power screw and it has been adjusted
for peak efficiency before leaving the factory. However, if voltage
in your home is low, you may need to readjust it. To adjust
power, turn your clipper “On”. Use the end of the cleaning
brush or a screwdriver to turn power screw in a clockwise
direction until you hear a noise. Then, slowly turn power screw
in a counterclockwise direction, just until noise stops. This is
the maximum power setting.
CORD
The cord should not be used to pull the clipper. Since freedom of movement needs to be
maintained, care should be used to keep the cord untwisted and unobstructed.
If your clipper has a polarized plug: To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance
has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug fits in a polarized outlet
only one way. In the event the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. Do not
change the plug in any way.
TAPER LEVER
(NOT INCLUDED ON ALL CLIPPER MODELS)
The taper lever adds versatility to your clipper by allowing you to
gradually change the closeness of your cut. (Up position = closest
cut; Down position = longest cut) Should the blades become jammed
with hair, move the taper lever up and down several times. This will
help free up the blades.

ALIGNING CLIPPER BLADES
Your Wahl clipper blades were oiled and aligned before leaving our factory. Blades may
need to be realigned if they have been bumped or removed for cleaning. To determine if
realignment is necessary, compare your clipper blades with this sketch.
1. If your clipper has a taper lever, position the lever in the close cut position.
2. End of top blade teeth should be approximately 1/32-inch (.64 mm) back from bottom blade.
3. Extreme left-hand tooth of top blade must be covering or to the left of the first small tooth
of bottom blade.
4. Extreme right-hand tooth of top blade must be touching the big tooth on the bottom blade.
If blade alignment is incorrect, add a few drops of Wahl Clipper Oil to the blades, turn clipper
ON” for a few moments, turn “OFF” and unplug. Loosen screws slightly and adjust. Tighten
screws after blades are aligned. Other than blades, this clipper has no user-serviceable parts.

NOTE:
1) Always start with the largest
guide comb, then use shorter
combs if a shorter length is
desired.
2) Cut only a small amount until
you become accustomed to how
long each guide comb leaves
the hair.
3) Cut slowly and smoothly. Do not
force the clipper through the hair.
ActuAl BlAde Size
The first time you cut hair, cut only a small amount of hair
until you become accustomed to the length of hair each
guide comb provides.
• Start by attaching the largest guide comb on the
clipper.
• Then use shorter combs if a shorter length is desired.
• For uniform cutting, cut at a slow even speed.

1. Attach the left
ear guide comb
to the clipper.
Put taper
lever in down
position.
2. Hold the clipper
at a slight angle just
back of the ear at the
hairline. Hold top of
ear down.
3. Move the clipper
upward and around
the ear.
Repeat the same for the
right ear with the right
ear guide comb.
To remove more bulk from behind the ears, use the left ear tapered guide
comb. Start behind the ear and arch the clippers around the ear for a clean
line, repeating the steps on the right side using the right ear tapered guide
comb.
When you want to blend from one section to the next, you will need to practice
moving the clipper in an upward rocking motion. This motion will leave the hair
slightly longer where the clipper pulls away from the scalp, enabling you to blend
between the sections and achieve a smooth transition from one length of hair to the
next. This technique will enhance the appearance of your haircuts.
Then clean up your sideburns, neckline and around the ears.
1. Comb hair and remove
tangles. Attach the largest guide
comb to the clipper. Make sure
the taper lever is in the up
position.
2. Start at hairline on side of
head and cut up to middle of
head. Note: If cut hair is
too long repeat with next
smaller guide comb.
3. Continue around head
repeating step 2.
4. You are now ready to cut
the middle portion of the hair.
5. Use the comb with the next
highest number than in step 3.
Example:If you used a #6 comb
in step 3, select comb #7.
6. Continue cutting around
middle portion of head as in
steps 2 and 3.
7. For cutting top of head, use
the comb with the next highest
number than in step 6.
Start at front bang area.
8. Cut across top of head.
Comb hair on entire head
to assess if further cutting
is necessary

1. No attachments
needed. Push the
taper lever up
to the close cut
position.
2. Start with the
sideburns.
3. Continue
around ear and
neckline as
shown.
4. Trim along
hairline as
shown.
1. This style leaves
the head virtually
bald at the bottom,
fading to slightly
longer hair on top.
Remove the bulk of
hair before starting
the bald fade cut.
2. Start at the temple and
cut all the way around
the head to establish
the ultimate location of
the fade line. Always cut
against the grain for the
shortest cut.
3. Cut around the
head again and up
the nape of the neck
to the fade line,
brushing away the
cut hair as you go.
4. Pull the scalp
taut with the thumb
for the closest cut.
Turn the clipper
upside down when
necessary to keep
cutting against the
grain. Make sure
both sides of the
head are even.
5. For the top of the
head, cut with the grain.
Comb or brush the hair
as you cut for a even
end result.
6. To complete the
fade, blend the hair
at the fade line by
trimming up and
out across the line
and against the
grain all the way
around the head.
2. For a totally smooth,
bald effect, we recommend
you finish by using an
electric shaver or a wet
blade shaver to shave the
entire head.
1. For a totally bald
look, continue to cut
progressively shorter,
against the grain, all over
the head.
Tips and Techniques
When you cut hair, you should visualize the head as if it
were divided into four sections. Image above shows the
different sections. Using proper techniques when moving
from one section to the next will help you blend the
sections together for professional looking results.
