Removing the solid-state drive

CAUTION: Solid-state drives are fragile. Exercise care when handling the solid-state drive.
CAUTION: To avoid data loss, do not remove the solid-state drive while the computer is in sleep or on state.
Prerequisites
1 Remove the optical drive (optional).
2 Remove the base cover.
Procedure
1 Loosen the two captive screws that secure the solid-state drive shield and solid-state drive to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE
: solid-state drive shield is available only on computers shipped with NVMe solid-state drive. In computers shipped
with SATA solid-state drive, remove the screw (M2x2.2) that secures the solid-state drive to the palm rest and
keyboard assembly.
2 Lift the solid-state drive shield o the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
3 Slide and remove the solid-state drive from the solid-state drive slot.
