INFLATING THE TIRES
Your Zyp e-scooter comes equipped with 16 inch air-filled tires. It is
important you keep the tire pressure at the recommended psi levels
(35 psi-45 psi).
For your safety and the best riding experience, check the tire
pressure before each ride. Low tire pressure can reduce stability,
handling, and battery efficiency, while excessively high pressure
may damage the tire. If air is needed, attach an air pump to the
stem on each tire. Inflate the tires until they reach 35-45 psi. Do not
exceed 45 psi.
CONTROLS
BEFORE RIDING
Practice using the Zyp at slower speeds in a flat, open area until you
are comfortable riding it.
PRE-RIDE CHECKLIST
• Ensure that your Zyp is in proper working order each time you ride.
• If a part of the e-scooter does not function correctly, please contact our
Customer Support Center.
10
background
WARNING
Any Zyp that does not work properly can cause you to lose
control and crash. Do not ride a Zyp with a part that is
damaged. Replace the damaged part before riding.
• Ensure the battery is fully charged before riding your e-scooter.
• Wear all appropriate safety gear before operating your Zyp.
• Wear comfortable clothes and flat, closed-toe shoes when
operating your device.
• Ensure the area that the unit is to be operated in is safe and suitable
for safe operation.
• Ensure the braking system is functioning properly.
• Ensure all safety labels are in place and understood by the operator.
• Ensure any and all axle guards, chain guards, or other covers or
guards supplied by Hover-1 are in place and in serviceable condition.
• Ensure the tires are in good condition, inflated properly, and have
sufficient tread remaining.
• Improper attachment of the handlebar may result in damage to the
steering column and result in loss of control, serious injury, or death.
Ensure the handlebars are secured.
11
background
Different localities and countries have different laws governing riding
on public roads, and you should check with local officials to ensure
you are complying with these laws. Hover-1 is not liable for tickets or
violations given to riders who do not follow local laws and
regulations.
• For your safety, always wear a helmet that meets CPSC or CE
safety standards. In the event of an accident, a helmet can protect
you from serious injury and in some cases, even death.
• Obey all local traffic laws. Obey red and green lights, one-way
streets, stop signs, pedestrian crosswalks, etc.
• Ride with traffic, not against it.
• Ride defensively. Expect the unexpected.
• Give pedestrians the right-of-way.
• Do not ride too close to pedestrians. Alert them if you intend to
pass them from behind.
• Slow down at all street intersections and look to the left and right
before crossing.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING
When you ride in low-visibility conditions such as fog, dusk, or at night,
you might be difficult to see, which could lead to a collision. Wear
bright, reflective clothing when riding in low-visibility conditions.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury, adult supervision is
required. Never use near swimming pools or other
bodies of water. Always wear shoes, and never
allow more than one rider.
12
background
• Do not ride above your skill level. Ensure you have had enough
practice with all functions and features of your Zyp.
• Before riding your Zyp, make sure it is placed flat on level ground.
• Do not try to open or modify your Zyp. Doing so voids the
manufacturer warranty and may cause your Zyp to fail, resulting in
injury or death.
• Do not use the Zyp in a manner that would put people or property
in danger.
• If you are riding near other riders, be sure to maintain a safe
distance between each other to prevent collisions.
• Be sure to keep your feet on the Zyp’s footrests while riding. Moving
your feet off the footrests while riding is dangerous and could cause
the Zyp to veer sideways.
• Do not operate the Zyp while under the influence of drugs or
alcohol.
• Do not operate the Zyp when you are restless or sleepy.
• Use your best judgment to keep yourself out of dangerous situations
with your Zyp.
• Do not ride your Zyp off of curbs, ramps, or attempt to operate it in
a skate park or empty pool. Misuse of your Zyp voids the
manufacturer warranty and may lead to injury or damage.
• Do not abuse your Zyp. Doing so can damage your unit and cause
failure to the operating system, which may lead to injury. Physical
abuse, including dropping your Zyp, voids the manufacturer
warranty.
• Do not operate in or near puddles of water, mud, sand, stones,
gravel, debris, or near rough and rugged terrain.
• The Zyp can be used on paved surfaces that are flat and even. If
you encounter uneven pavement, move your Zyp around and past
the obstruction.
• Do not ride in inclement weather: snow, rain, hail, sleet, on icy roads,
or in extreme heat or cold.
• If you are unsure if you can safely ride on a specific terrain, get off
13
background
WARNING
Do not turn sharply or at high speeds. Do
not turn or ride quickly along slopes, as it
may cause injury.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
CAN LEAD TO DAMAGE TO YOUR ZYP, VOID YOUR MANUFACTURER
WARRANTY, LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE,
AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH.
OPERATING YOUR DEVICE
Make sure the Zyp is fully charged before your first use.
Make sure the tires are inflated to 35-45 psi.
When you are ready to ride, turn on the Zyp by inserting the key into
the starter and turning the key clockwise.
Zyp will start in Parking Mode. As a safety measure, Parking Mode
prevents the throttle from activating the motor. To start riding,
squeeze the brake once to deactive Parking mode, then engage
the throttle gently. Start slow, and gradually speed up as you get
more comfortable riding. If Zyp is idled for 80 seconds, Parking Mode
will be reactivated.
To slow down, release the throttle and squeeze the brake levers. The
brakes are pressure-sensitive, so a tighter grip provides more stopping
power. When you brake, use the rear brake lever, then the front
brake lever, or squeeze both brake levers together.
The faster you are riding, the longer stopping distance you will need
to come to a complete stop. Be cautious, stopping too fast from a
high speed can cause your e-scooter to skid out of control.
Prepare to brace yourself if you encounter bumps or uneven
surfaces. Slow down and ride cautiously. Get off and move your Zyp
to a safe operating space if needed.
When you are ready to stop riding, bring your Zyp to a full stop and
turn the key clockwise to power it off.
RIDING YOUR ZYP
15
background
WARNING
Riding the Zyp while exceeding the
weight limit may increase the possibility
of injury or product damage.
CHARGING YOUR ZYP
To preserve battery life and the performance of your Zyp, it is
recommended that you charge it after each ride. If you store the
Zyp for an extended period of time without use, be sure to keep it in
a cool, dry environment. Ocasionally charge the battery to prevent
the battery from losing its ability to hold a charge.
Ensure that the charging port is clean and dry. Charge the battery
in a cool, dry environment.
• Make sure that there is no dust, debris, or dirt inside the port.
• Plug the charger into a grounded wall outlet.
• Connect the charging cable to the power supply (100V-240V; 50
Hz/60 Hz).
• Align and connect the charging cable into the charging port of
the Zyp (DO NOT FORCE OR BEND THE CHARGING CABLE AS IT
MAY CAUSE THE PRONGS TO BEND OR BREAK).
• When you connect the charger, the indicator light on the charger
should change to red, indicating that your e-scooter is now being
charged.
• When the red indicator light on your charger changes to green,
your e-scooter is fully charged.
• After fully charging your e-scooter, unplug the charger from your
device and from the wall outlet. A full charge may take up to 7
hours. Do not charge the Zyp longer than 7.5 hours, even if the light
does not change to green.
• If the e-scooter is not used for an extended period of time, you may
need to recharge the battery every 2 months to maintain the battery
life.
