before putting on or taking off parts,

11. Always put kettle on base, then plug
cord into wall outlet. To disconnect,
push button to OFF, then remove plug
from wall outlet.
CAUTION: Do not operate your
appliance in an appliance garage or
under a wall cabinet. When storing any
appliance in an appliance garage,
always unplug the unit from the
electrical outlet. Be sure the appliance
does not touch the interior wall of the
appliance garage, and the door does
not touch the unit as it closes. Contact
could cause the unit to turn on, creating
a risk of fire.
12. Do not use appliance for other than its
intended use.
13. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed
during the heating cycle.
14. Lock lid securely onto kettle before
serving any beverages.
15. The kettle is designed for use only with
the power base provided. It must never
be used on a range top.
16. This appliance is not intended for use
by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory, or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
17. Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the appliance.
Avoid spillage on the base/connector.
The base is subject to residual heat
after use. If the kettle is overfilled,
boiling water may be ejected. The
appliance is only to be used with the
base provided.
18. Do not use a cracked or broken
container or a container having a loose
or weakened handle.

SPECIAL CORD SET
INSTRUCTIONS
A short power-supply cord is provided to
reduce the risks resulting from becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Longer extension cords are available and
may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If a long extension cord is used, the marked
electrical rating of the extension cord
must be at least as great as the electrical
rating of the appliance. The extension cord
should be a grounding-type, 3-wire cord,
and the longer cord should be arranged so
that it will not drape over the countertop
or tabletop where it can be pulled on by
children or tripped over.
For your protection,
this unit is equipped
with a 3-conductor
cord set that has
a molded 3-prong,
grounding-type plug,
and should be used
in combination with a
properly connected
grounding-type outlet
as shown in Figure A.
If a grounding-type
outlet is not available,
an adapter, shown
in Figure B, may be
obtained so that a
2-slot wall outlet
can be used with
a 3-prong plug. As
shown in Figure C, the adapter must be
grounded by attaching its grounding lug
under the screw of the outlet cover plate.
NOTE: Do not remove the grounding prong.
CAUTION: Before using an adapter, it
must be determined that the outlet cover
plate screw is properly grounded. If in
doubt, consult a licensed electrician.
Never use an adapter unless you are
sure it is properly grounded.
NOTE: Use of an adapter is not permitted
in Canada.

1. Place the box on a large, sturdy, flat
surface.
2. Remove the instruction book and any
other literature.
3. Lift the power base from the box and
remove the polybag.
4. Remove the upper pulp molded insert.
5. Lift the kettle from the box and remove
the polybag.
We suggest you save all packing materials
in the event that future shipping of the
machine is needed. Keep all plastic bags
away from children.

BEFORE USING FOR THE
FIRST TIME
Before using your Cuisinart Soho™ 1.0-Liter
Double Wall Electric Kettle for the first time,
we recommend rinsing the kettle with the
maximum amount of fresh water it allows.
Boil fresh water inside the kettle two to three
times and discard the boiled water before
normal use.
OPERATION/HEATING
1. Open kettle by pressing the Lid Release
Button.
2. Add fresh, cold water to the kettle.
Do not fill past the MAX FILL mark –
overfilling could cause boil-over.
3. Close the lid by pressing down until it
locks shut.
4. Put the kettle on the power base, and
then plug the cord into a wall outlet.
5. Power the kettle on by pressing the
Start/Stop switch down until a click is
heard. When the water has boiled, the
kettle will automatically switch off.
NOTE: The kettle can be switched off
at any time by pushing the Start/Stop
switch up.
6. Serve and enjoy. If you wish to bring
water to a boil again, press the
Start/Stop switch once more.
HELPFUL HINTS
• Always use fresh water in the kettle.
• If the kettle is accidentally switched
on without a sufficient amount of water,
a boil-dry safety mechanism will
automatically switch the kettle off.
• The lid should always be closed while
heating water.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
• The kettle should always be emptied
before cleaning and storage.
• Before cleaning the kettle, make sure
the power base is unplugged from the
power supply.
• Cleaning should be performed only
when the kettle has cooled down.
• Always ensure the electrical connections
of the kettle remain absolutely dry.
• Ensure the outside and the electrical
connections of the kettle are completely
dry before using.
• Wipe the kettle and base with a soft,
damp cloth. Do not use cleaning
products that can cause health hazard
or discoloration of the kettle.
• Do not use abrasive cleansers or
scouring agents of any kind on the
interior or exterior of the kettle.
• Never immerse kettle or power base
in water.
MAINTENANCE: Any other servicing
should be performed by an authorized
service representative.
DECALCIFICATION
Decalcification refers to removing mineral
deposits, which may form in the interior of
the kettle and may result in discoloration.
To get the best performance from your
kettle, decalcify it from time to time.
Frequency will depend on the hardness of
your water and how often you use the unit.
We suggest using a kettle descaler in order
to dissolve these deposits or scale. Follow
the directions on the descaler package.
Alternatively, fill the kettle with enough
white vinegar to cover the bottom by about
½ inch. Heat the vinegar to a boil. Repeat
this with cooled vinegar until all deposits are
removed. When complete, empty the kettle
and rinse with clean water.

Cuisinart Soho™ 1.0-Liter Double Wall Electric
Kettle will be free of defects in materials and
workmanship under normal home use for
3 years from the date of original purchase.

registration. However, product registration does
not eliminate the need for the consumer to
maintain the original proof of purchase in order to
obtain the warranty benefits. In the event that you

Service, California residents have the option of
returning a nonconforming product (A) to the

USO DE ALARGADORES
El cable provisto con este aparato es corto, para

ANTES DEL PRIMER USO
Antes de usar el hervidor de doble pared
de 1L Cuisinart Soho™ por primera vez,
se recomienda llenarlo con agua hasta la
línea “MAX”, poner el agua a hervir y tirarla.
Repita este proceso dos a tres veces.
INSTRUCCIONES DE USO
1. Abra la tapa, presionando el botón de
apertura.
2. Llene el hervidor con la cantidad
deseada de agua fría, sin exceder la
línea “MAX” para evitar los derrames.
3. Cierre la tapa, presionando hasta que
se bloquee.
4. Coloque el hervidor en la base y, a
continuación, enchufe el cable.
5. Para encender el hervidor, presione
el interruptor hacia abajo hasta que
escuche un “clic”. Después de que
el agua hierva, el hervidor se apagará
automáticamente.
NOTA: Si desea apagar el hervidor antes
de que el agua hierva, simplemente
levante el interruptor.
6. Sirva y disfrute de su bebida caliente.
Si desea poner el agua a hervir otra vez,
presione el interruptor hacia abajo
otra vez.
CONSEJOS ÚTILES
• Siempre use agua fresca.
• Si la cantidad de agua en el hervidor es
insuficiente, un dispositivo de seguridad
contra hervido en seco lo apagará
automáticamente.
• Siempre compruebe que la tapa esté
bien cerrada antes de encender el
aparato.
LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO
• Siempre vacíe el hervidor antes de
limpiar o guardarlo.
• Desenchufe la base antes de la limpieza.
• Siempre deje que la jarra se enfríe antes
de limpiarla.
• Cerciórese de que las conexiones
eléctricas permanezcan completamente
secas.
• Compruebe que la base, el exterior de
la jarra y las conexiones eléctricas estén
completamente secos antes de volver a
usar el hervidor.
• Limpie la jarra y la base eléctrica con
un paño suave ligeramente húmedo.
No use productos de limpieza, los cuales
pueden causar un peligro para la salud
o decolorar el hervidor.
• No use materiales ni productos abrasivos
para limpiar el interior o el exterior de la
jarra.
• Nunca sumerja la jarra ni la base en
agua.
MANTENIMIENTO: Cualquier otro servicio
debe ser realizado por un técnico autorizado.
DESCALCIFICACIÓN
Depósitos de calcio/sarro pueden
acumularse en la jarra, causando manchas.
Para lograr un rendimiento óptimo, se
debe descalcificar la jarra regularmente. La
frecuencia de la descalcificación dependerá
de la dureza del agua y de la frecuencia de
uso del aparato.
Se recomienda usar un descalcificador de
hervidor/cafetera para eliminar los depósitos
de calcio/sarro (siga las instrucciones del
fabricante). También puede descalificar
con vinagre, llenando la jarra con
aprox. ½in(1.5cm) de vinagre blanco,
calentándolo hasta que hierva y tirándolo.
Repita este proceso con más vinagre, hasta
haber eliminado todos los depósitos. A
continuación, enjuague la jarra con agua.

Cuisinart (no el consumidor) será responsable por
los gastos de servicio, reparación, sustitución o
reembolso de los productos defectuosos bajo

expresamente los defectos o daños causados por

por Cuisinart, así como los defectos o daños

voltaje. Esta garantía no cubre el uso comercial
o industrial del producto, y no es válida en caso
