KMX7* New bayonet design
December 2021
Description: KMX7 bayonet design change to improve bowl retention in the pedestal.
Root cause: Due to parts manufactured out of specification, an inconsistency in the bowl’s locking position
and torque may happen. This can lead to the plastic ring snapping, bowl getting stuck in the pedestal or
unlocking and during usage.
Design difference: A new bayonet design is developed to address these issues. The new bayonet solution
has a different design and increased number of lugs to prevent the bowl ejecting, and to reduce the risk of
breakage.

Identification: The KMX7* finished goods with the old bayonet design are discontinued from 21D14.
Finished goods manufactured from date code 21D14 have the new bayonet design. The new bayonet
design is indicated by a letter ’A’ on the product’s label and product model number:
Service repairs: The new and old bayonet types are not interchangeable. When a single part (plastic ring,
bowl or bowl socket) is replaced, the other components must be matched.
Example: When a customer has a product date coded pre-21D14 and orders a new bowl, the bowl bayonet
socket AS00002703 must be replaced as well.
