Power Steering Fluid Vacuum Pump
ATTENTION
DO NOT LEAVE THE VEHICLE UNATTENDED WHILE THIS PRODUCT IS IN USE. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY
GLASSES AND GLOVES WHILE USING THIS PRODUCT.
Always make sure to keep the power steering reservoir full. If allowed to run empty, this will damage the pump
and create air in the system.
Make sure the diverter tube on the vacuum generator is pointed down. Insert tube end into an empty container
or a shop rag.
It is essential to comply with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Use only the hydraulic fluid approved
by the vehicle manufacturer. This specification is found in the vehicle owner’s manual.
Keep hands and hoses away from moving belts, fans and components.
Ensure that the small fitting where the diverter tube connects to the vacuum generator is tightened fully or the
tool will not perform correctly. If you notice that the tool blows air at the rubber stopper end instead of
drawing vacuum then this fitting will need to be re-tightened. (Do not over tighten). The fitting should be
periodically checked as it can loosen over time.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Allow the vehicle to cool prior to using this product.
2. Raise the vehicle’s front wheels off the ground.
3. Remove the power steering fluid cap.
4. Fill the reservoir with fluid to the top edge.
5. Coat sides of the rubber stopper with power steering fluid.
6. Connect shop air to the vacuum pump. (Works best with air pressure regulated at 45-60 PSI.)
7. Use the hook to hang vacuum pump assembly on the underside of the vehicle hood.
8. Press the rubber stopper into the power steering fluid reservoir opening, Hold the stopper in place until seated.
There may be a small amount of fluid that enters the bottle. This will depend on the amount of air in the
system. Also if there is a leak in the system, the fluid that is in the bottle may continue to bubble.
9. Start the engine; turn the wheel back and forth from lock to lock. Repeat 10 to 12 times.
10. Turn the engine OFF.
11. Allow the vacuum pump to operate for 5 – 10 minutes.
12. Carefully lift the assembly, place your finger over the hole of the stopper, and remove the compressed air hose.
13. Repeat steps 4-12 if necessary. Continue to repeat until little or no bubbles, or fluids enter the bottle. (If after
repeating steps 4-12 multiple times and there are still bubbles in the fluid, it may indicate a leak in the system.
Correct leak before proceeding.)
14. Drain the fluid into a container.
15. Check for the correct fluid level in the reservoir.
16. Reinstall power steering fluid cap.
17. Start the engine and turn the steering lock to lock 10 times.
18. Lower the vehicle and verify the correct fluid level.
19. Check for leaks and test drive to verify proper operation.
20. To prevent cross-contamination of power steering fluid from one vehicle to another, clean and dry the TH212
Power Steering Fluid Vacuum Pump after each use.
