INSTRUCTIONS (Instructions are general for all PRO-83 Models. Some of the below information may
not pertain to your specific model. Check list above for parts and accessories that go with your particular
machine):
VACUUM:
Insert hose into vacuum front end cap.

To reach those inaccessible areas, connect the Extension Wands to the hose. Eliminate bending to
clean low areas and stretching to reach the high areas.
Start the vacuum by pushing the On/Off Switch (2 speed) to the left or right depending on speed
desired.
Floor & Wall Brush: Used with extension wands for cleaning walls, hardwood, tile, cement or
linoleum surfaces.
Crevice Tool: Cleans those hard to reach, tight spots.
Dust Brush: The long, soft bristles gently loosen dust furniture, blinds, moldings, windowsills, etc.
Crevice Tool: Allows you to clean those hard-to-reach places.
Pik-All Nozzle: Cleans stairs, upholstery, draperies, and more.
BLOWER:
To use as a blower, release clamps and remove front end cap and cloth bag, but leave foam filter in place.
Attached hose to exhaust end.
TO INFLATE INFLATABLES
To use as an inflator, release clamps and remove front end cap, cloth bag and fiberglass filter. Attached
hose to exhaust end.
Inflator Adaptor: When inflating air mattresses, boats, rafts, insert hose into exhaust. Inflator adapters sold
separately.

Filtration includes paper disposable bag, permanent cloth bag, foam filter. To protect your motor,
and for maximum efficiency and log life, dispose of the used paper bag. Frequently check the
permanent cloth bag for dust/dirt buildup and caking. Shake out the permanent cloth bag
frequently. Check and replace the foam filter and filter 3 to 4 times a year.
CAUTION: If your machine has suction but does not clean when the hose is attached, remove the
hose from the suction end and place it on the blower end. Blow out the hose, it may be clogged.
Replacing / Cleaning Filter (Filter MVC-56F):
1. Take out the filter and replace it with new or shake out.
a. You can rinse the filter and reuse, BUT IT MUST BE COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE
PUTTING BACK INTO THE MACHINE.
b. Replace it with a new filter after 3 rinses.
2. Put filter back into the baffle.
3. Screw baffle endcap back onto the machine.
Replacing carbon brushes (ABC-3: see additional parts list above; should be changed after about
500 hours of use):
1. Remove front endcap.
2. Find wire going to carbon brush and use flathead screwdriver to loosen tab.
3. Use Philips screwdriver to remove carbon brush mounting bracket.
4. Install tab into new carbon brush and replace mounting bracket.
WARRANTY:
This machine carries a Five Year Limited* Warranty.
The Five Year Warranty includes the unit and the motor.*
There is also a One Year Warranty* on Parts, Switches, and Cords.
This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship, including installation, with the exceptions
stated below:
*MetroVac will repair or replace any defective or malfunctioning part* at no charge. If the machine
is not repairable, it will be replaced.
*Mechanical alterations made to the machine will void the warranty.
*Warranty does not cover carbon brushes, carbon brush wear, filters, or general maintenance.
*The warranty does not cover physical damage made to the machine from tampering with or
attempting to take the appliance apart, improper electrical connections, or water damage.
*Customer is responsible for shipping charges to and from our facility.
***Even if the product is beyond the warranty period, we suggest you send the unit back to our
factory for expert repairs and maintenance at reasonable rates. Please click the following link to

edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
Do not put any object into the openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust,
lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.
Do not use without dustbag and/or filters in place.
Turn off controls before unplugging.
Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where
they may be present.
To avoid electric shock, do not use it on wet surfaces, do not expose to rain; store indoors.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other). This plug will fit into an outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do
not change the plug in any way.
For a grounded appliance: "Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See Grounding
Instructions."
