Thank you for being an OontZ Bluetooth Adapter 2nd Gen Owner!
This User Guide first covers the steps to connect your OontZ Bluetooth Adapter to
your TV or device (Laptop, Computer, Tablet, Mac, iPad, or Music Receiver), with the
included Digital Audio Optical Cable or the 3.5mm Audio Cable. Then the steps to
connect the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter wirelessly over Bluetooth to 1, 2, 3 or 4 these
Supported OontZ Speaker Models:

• The OontZ Bluetooth Adapter will only work with the Supported OontZ

The OontZ Bluetooth Adapter is designed to transmit the audio from your TV or
device to the OontZ Speaker(s) with our Low latency Feature. The Low Latency
Feature reduces delays that occur in the Bluetooth transmission of the audio which
can cause lip sync issues when playing a video on your TV or device and playing the
audio wirelessly through 1, 2, 3 or 4 OontZ Speakers.

- Plug the longer end of the Digital Audio Optical Cable into the
Optical/Audio In Connector on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter as
shown below.
- Plug the shorter end of the Digital Audio Optical Cable into the
Optical - Digital Audio Out on your TV as shown below.
- Make sure both ends of the cable are fully inserted.
We recommend to connect to your TV using the Digital Audio Optical Out Connector. If the
TV does not have a Digital Audio Optical Out Connector, use the Analog Audio Connection
as described on Page 4.

- Plug one end of the 3.5mm Audio Cable into the Optical/Audio In Connector on the
OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
- Plug the other end of that 3.5mm Audio Cable into the Headphone or Audio-Out
Connector on your television.
- Make sure both ends of the cable are fully inserted.
-If your TV does not have a Headphone Connector or Audio-Out Connector but does
have Left Right Analog Audio Out you will need a 3.5mm to RCA cable as shown
below.

Connect 1, 2, 3 or 4 Supported OontZ speakers with your
OontZ Bluetooth Adapter
You can also use the OontZ app to connect to OontZ speakers - See page 12 for instructions
on using the OontZ app
*Your OontZ Bluetooth Adapter needs to be within 10 unobstructed feet of the OontZ Speakers
to pair and connect. If there is an issue when connecting please move your speakers closer to
the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter, then pair and connect.

– Plug in and turn on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter. (See page 6).
– The OontZ Bluetooth Adapter will serve as the Master.
– Turn on the supported OontZ speaker(s). The speaker(s) will be the Slave Speakers.
– The Slave Speakers must not be connected to any device, their Bluetooth Light must be
flashing. If a speaker has a solid Blue Light it is connected to a device and you need to
disconnect it by pressing and holding down the Bluetooth Button for 3 seconds until the
Bluetooth Light begins flashing.
– On the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter press and release the Surround Button . The
Surround light will be lit solid Orange.
– On the OontZ speaker(s) with a flashing Blue Light, press and release the Bluetooth
Button . The light on the OontZ speaker(s) will flash Orange and the speaker(s) will say
“Surround Mode Receive”.
– After a few seconds each speaker will connect with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter. The light
on the OontZ speaker(s) will be lit with a solid Orange light.

Turning the speakers off
– Turning the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter will NOT turn off the speaker(s).
– Turning a Slave Speaker(s) off will only turn that speaker off and the other Slave
Speakers will continue to play.
Turning the speakers back on
– Turn all the speakers on and repeat the pairing process - S
ee page 8 for instructions.
Disconnecting the speakers from each other
– To disconnect a single Slave Speaker, press and release the Bluetooth Button on
the speaker. All other Slave Speakers will stay connected to the OontZ Bluetooth
Adapter.
– To disconnect all the speakers, turn off the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter or press and
release the Surround Button on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter. The speakers will
all be disconnected from the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
– If the Slave Speaker(s) are not turned off and are disconnected by pressing and
releasing the Surround Button on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter. The speakers
will automatically reconnect with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter when the Surround
Button on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter is pressed and released again. If a Slave
Speaker is turned off the Bluetooth Button on the speaker will need to be pressed
and released to enter Surround Mode to connect with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
Note: To pair a Slave Speaker with a flashing Orange Light with another device, press
and release the Bluetooth Button . The
Bluetooth Light will begin flashing Blue and
the OontZ speaker is ready to pair and connect with the device.

Important Notes

PULL
- The four lights on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter will flash together indicating the OontZ
Bluetooth Adatper is ready to pair with the Remote.
- Hold the remote within 3 feet (1 meter) of the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
– At the same time Press and hold the Bluetooth Button and the Power Button on the
remote for more than two seconds.
– Once the remote has connected with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter the light labeled Analog will
flash Green six times.
Note: To verify if your remote is paired with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter press and hold the
Bluetooth Button and the Power Button on the remote for more than two seconds at any
time when the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter is power on. The light labeled Analog on the OontZ
Bluetooth Adapter will flash Green six times when the remote and the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter
are paired.

Using the OontZ Remote with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter
(The OontZ app can also be used to control the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter, refer to Page 12)
To use the OontZ Remote first remove the insulation
strip on the back side of the OontZ Remote as shown.
Once the insulation strip is remove, the OontZ Remote
must be paired with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
– Plug in and turn on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter. (See page 6).
– Press and hold the Mute Button for more than two seconds on
the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.

- The four lights on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter will flash together indicating the OontZ
Bluetooth Adatper is ready to pair with the Remote.
- Hold the remote within 3 feet (1 meter) of the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.

The OontZ Remote Control is used to connect to your supported OontZ speaker
and control the Volume, Mute, and Unmute your connected OontZ speaker. Some
functions on the Remote are designed for the OontZ Angle 3 Pro Soundbar and are
not supported on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.

Control the features of your
OontZ Bluetooth Adatper from your iPhone or Smartphone
running the Android operation system.
Volume Control - Remotely control the volume of your connected OontZ speakers.
Surround Mode - Connect, Disconnect and manage 1, 2, 3 or 4 supported OontZ speakers.
Support - View the latest online manual and contact the OontZ customer service team.
Speakers - Select to allow the OontZ app to control other supported OontZ speakers.
Download the OontZ app from the Apple App Store® or Google Play™ Store.

- Select the Menu in the upper left hand corner of the
OontZ app and the Menu screen will appear

- The OontZ app will be enabled with your OontZ Bluetooth

Select the Menu in the upper left hand corner of the app and select
‘Surround Mode’ from the menu.
– Plug in and turn on the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter. (See page 6).
– The OontZ Bluetooth Adapter will serve as the Master.
– Turn on the other OontZ speaker(s). These speakers will be the Slave Speakers.
– The Slave speakers must not be connected to any device, their Bluetooth Light must be flashing
Blue. If a speaker has a solid Blue Light it is connected to a device and you need to disconnect it
by pressing and holding down the Bluetooth Button for 3 seconds until the Bluetooth Light
begins flashing Blue.
Using the OontZ app for Surround Mode
The ‘Master Speaker’
menu will be displayed
and the OontZ Bluetooth
Adapter.
The first time entering
Surround Mode the
OontZ Bluetooth Adapter
will automatically be
selected and the box will
turn from Grey to Blue.
The Surround light will be lit
solid Orange. The OontZ
Bluetooth Adapter will serve as
the Master.
If the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter
has exited Surround Mode.
Surround Mode can be enabled
again by selecting the Grey box
of the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
The box will turn from Grey to
Blue.

Using the OontZ app for Surround Mode
The selected speaker boxes will turn from Grey to Blue.
The light on the selected speakers will flash Orange.
After a few seconds each speaker will connect with the OontZ
Bluetooth Adapter. The light on each speaker will be lit a solid
Orange
and the speaker will announce “Surround Mode
Receive”.
Press the ‘Slave Speaker’ Button.
The other supported OontZ speakers that are turned on
and within range will be displayed.
Select the Grey boxes in the list of displayed speakers that
you want to connect with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter in
Surround Mode.

Using the OontZ app for Surround Mode
Disconnecting and reconnecting the OontZ speakers in Surround Mode
To disconnect a Slave speaker in Surround Mode, press
the ‘Slave Speaker’ Button.
Select a desired speaker from the list of displayed
speakers.
Confirm you want the speaker to exit Surround Mode.
The box will turn from Blue to Grey, the speaker will
disconnect from the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter and the
speaker will exit Surround Mode.
If the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter is still in Surround Mode
(Surround Button lit solid Orange), to reconnect a Slave
Speaker just select the Grey box. The Grey box will turn
Blue. The speaker will enter Surround Mode and connect
with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.

To disconnect a Slave speaker in Surround Mode, press
the ‘Slave Speaker’ Button.
Select a desired speaker from the list of displayed

speaker will exit Surround Mode.
If the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter is still in Surround Mode

Speaker just select the Grey box. The Grey box will turn
with the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
To disconnect all speakers in Surround Mode, press the
‘Master Speaker’ Button.
Select the Blue box displayed for the OontZ Bluetooth
Adapter.
Confirm you want to exit Surround Mode.
The box will turn from Blue to Grey, all speakers will
disconnect.
Slave Speaker(s) have not been turned off after being
disconnected and are in Surround Mode, the speakers will
automatically reconnect when the OontZ Bluetooth Adatper
(Master) is enabled for Surround Mode.
Slave Speaker(s) have been turned off and back on. The
speakers will need to be reconnected. To reconnect using the
OontZ app refer to the instructions on Page 15 and 16 or to
reconnect with the Surround button on the Bluetooth Adapter
refer to instructions on Page 8.

Using the OontZ app for Volume Control and Support
Select the Menu in the upper left hand corner of the app and select “Volume’ to
access the Volume screen and ‘Support’ from the menu to access the Support screen.
- Press ‘User Guide’ to display the latest version of
the online user guide and FAQ for the OontZ
Bluetooth Adapter.
- Press ‘Update Speaker’ to check the version of the
current firmware version on the OontZ Bluetooth
Adatper and whether there is a new version
available.
- Press ‘Contact Us’ to display the customer support
form. Fill in the information in the displayed form to
email to our OontZ support team.
Note: The firmware update may take up to 30
minutes. Make sure the iPhone or Smartphone is
not interrupted by a phone call during the update of
the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
- Select ‘Volume Control’ from the menu
to access the Volume Control screen
- Changing the volume will sync the
volume across all the connected OontZ
speakers

Troubleshooting
I am having trouble pairing and connecting to my OontZ Speaker(s).
Please check the following:
– Your speaker(s) are Supported OontZ Speaker Models:
– OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA (4th Gen)
– OontZ Angle 3 Pro (2nd Gen)
Does NOT work with previous generations of OontZ speakers
- For the latest list of Supported OontZ Speakers please visit TheOontZ.com/BT-Adapt-

– The adapter and your speakers are within an unobstructed 10 feet / 3 meters from each
other.
– The adapter is ready to connect to your OontZ Speaker(s); this is indicated by the
Surround light flashing.
I hear an echo when connected to my TV
– Please make sure the internal speaker is turned off on your TV and only the audio to the
OontZ Bluetooth Adapter is enabled.
– The selection to turn off the internal speaker can usually be found in the TV
on-screen menu under audio settings. Please refer to your TV manual for more
specific instructions.

Troubleshooting (continued)
After connecting the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter to my audio source, there is no audio
playing from my OontZ Speaker. Please check the following:
– Your audio source is connected to the adapter via the 3.5mm Audio Cable or Digital
Audio Optical Cable.
– Make sure the audio volume is at an audible level on both your speakers and audio
source.
– Please make sure the settings for your audio source are enabled for the line-out/head-
phone out or the Digital Audio out (depending on the cable you have connected to the
OontZ Bluetooth Adapter).
– Some TVs require selecting the audio output setting to an external speaker in your
TV on-screen menus. The selection for the audio output setting can usually be
found in the TV on-screen menu under audio settings. Please refer to your TV
manual for more specific instructions.
I hear a buzzing sound when connected to my TV.
– When using the Digital Audio Optical Cable connected to the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter
make sure the audio format setting for your TV is enabled for PCM out and not
encoded audio such as Dolby Digital.
– The selection to change the audio format on your TV can usually be found in the TV
on-screen menu under audio settings. Please refer to your TV manual for more specific
instructions.

Speaker Power
- When the OontZ Speakers are playing from battery power and connected to the
OontZ Bluetooth Adapter, the speakers will remain on and will not automatically turn
off after 30 minutes of not playing audio. This will use up the battery charge on the
OontZ Speakers.
We recommend to:
1) Keep each OontZ Speaker plugged into a USB wall charger, which will keep each
OontZ Speaker charged and available. They can remain on and available to play
from the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter.
- Or -
2) Turn off each OontZ Speaker when you are done listening.
When the OontZ
Bluetooth Adapter is on and the OontZ speakers are turned back on. The OontZ
Bluetooth Adapter will automatically reconnect to each OontZ Speaker if they are
within range.

Safety and Precautions
When the OontZ Bluetooth Adapter is plugged in to a power source with the Micro USB
Power Adapter, never use near water, to prevent risk of electric shock.
Read and follow all instructions – All operating and use instructions should be followed.
Protect the Micro USB Power Adapter from being pinched, particularly at the
connectors.
Unplug the Micro USB Power Adapter during lightning storms or when unused for long
periods of time.
Do not place adpater near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or
other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Servicing is required when the speaker has
been damaged in any way.
Do not make alterations to this adapter.
Use this adapter only with the supplied Micro USB Power Adapter which meets local
regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, CSA, VDE, CCC) in accordance with the manufacturer’s
specifications.
Do not place near naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, on or near the speaker.
Do not expose this adapter to excessive heat
(e.g. from storage in direct sunlight, fire or the like)
