OPERATION OF
CURRENT DEVICE:
The power supply cord contains a
current device that senses damage
to the power cord. To test your power
supply cord, do the following:
1. Plug in the air conditioner.
2. The power supply cord will have
TWObuttonsontheplughead.Press
theTESTbutton.Youwillnoticea
clickastheRESETbuttonpopsout.
3. Press the RESET button. Again,
youwillnoticeaclickasthe
button engages.
4. The power supply cord is now
supplyingelectricitytotheunit.(On
some products this is also indicated
by a light on the plug head.)

STEP 1:
PREPARE THE WINDOW
Lowersashmustopensucientlytoallowaclear
vertical opening of 14 inches (355.6 mm). Side
louvers and the rear of the AC must have clear air
spacetoallowenoughairowthroughthecondenser
for heat removal. The rear of the unit must be
outdoors, not inside a building or garage.

STEP 2:
PREPARE AIR CONDITIONER
A. Remove the air conditioner from the carton and
placeonaatsurface.
B. Removetoprailfromtherearofthepackaging
material as shown in Fig. A.

C. Align the hole in the top rail with those in the top of
the unit as shown in Fig. B.
D. Securethetoprailtotheunitwiththe3/8″screws
as shown in Fig. C.
NOTE: For safety reasons, all four (4) screws MUST be
securely fastened.
STEP 3:
INSTALL THE ACCORDION PANELS
NOTE: Top rail and sliding panels on each side are
osettoprovidetheproperpitchof5/16″tothe
rear. This is necessary for proper condensed water
utilizationanddrainage.Ifyouarenotusingthe
side panels for any reason, this pitch to the rear must
be maintained.
A.Placeunitonoor,abenchoratable.Holdthe
accordionpanelinonehandandgentlypullback
thecentertolltheopenend.SeeFig.1.
B. Slide the free end “ ” section of the panel directly
into the cabinet as shown in Fig. 2. Slide the
panel down. Be sure to leave enough space to slip
the top and bottom of the frame into the rails on
the cabinet.

C. Oncethepanelhasbeeninstalledonthesideof
thecabinet,makesureitsitssecurelyinsidethe
framechannelbymakingslightadjustments.Slide
the top and bottom ends of the frame into the top
and bottom rails of the cabinet. (Fig. 3)
D. Slide the panel all the way in and repeat on the
other side. (Fig. 4)

STEP 4:
INSTALLING THE WINDOW AC
A.Keepingarmgripontheairconditioner,carefully
place the unit into the window opening so the
bottom of the air conditioner frame is against the
window sill (Fig. 5). Carefully close the window
behind the top rail of the unit.
NOTE:Checkthatairconditioneristiltedback
approximately3/4″to1″(Fig.5above)(tiltedabout
3° to 4° downward to the outside). If, after proper
installation, condensation does not drain from the
overowdrainholeduringnormaluse,adjustslope.
B. Extend the side panels out against the window
frame (Fig. 6).
STEP 5:
INSTALL SUPPORT BRACKET
A.Placethelockframebetweentheframeextensions
andthewindowsillasshowninFig.7.Drive3/4″
(19mm)or1/2″(12.7mm)lockingscrewsthrough
thelockframeandintothesill.
NOTE: Topreventwindowsillfromsplitting,drill1/8″
(3 mm) pilot holes before driving screws.
B. Drive3/4″(19mm)or1/2″(12.7mm)locking
screws through frame holes into window sash
(Fig. 8).

C. To secure lower sash in place, attach right angle sash
lockwith3/4″(19mm)or1/2″(12.7mm)screwas
shown (Fig. 9).
D. Cut window sash seal foam and insert it in the space
between the upper and lower sashes (Fig. 10).
IF AC IS BLOCKED BY A
STORM WINDOW
Add wood as shown in Fig.11, or remove storm window
before air conditioner is installed.
If storm window frame must remain, be sure the
drainholesorslotsarenotcaulkedorpaintedshut.
Accumulated rain water or condensation must be
allowed to drain out.
REMOVING AC FROM WINDOW
● TurnACo,anddisconnectpowercord.
● Removesashsealfrombetweenwindows,and
unscrewsafetysashlock.
● Removescrewsinstalledthroughframeand
frame-lock.
● Close(slide)sideaccordionpanelsintoframe.
● Keepingarmgriponairconditioner,raisesashand
carefully remove.
● Becarefulnottospillanyremainingwater
while lifting unit from window. Store parts WITH
air conditioner.

Alwayswait3minuteswhenturningunitoandthenonagain,andalsowhenchangingfromcooltofanandthenback
tocool.Thecoolcircuithasanautomatic3minutetimedelayedstartiftheunitisturnedoandonquicklyorisswitched
betweencoolandfanquickly.Thisallowspressureinsideofthecompressortoequalizeandpreventsoverheatingaswell
aspossiblecircuitbreakertripping.Failuretofollowtheseinstructionsmaybeharmfultoyourunit.
To begin operating the air conditioner, follow these steps:
1. Set the thermostat (“TEMPERATURE”) to the highest number (coldest or cooler setting).
2. SettheCoolingknobtothehighestCOOLsetting.
3. Adjustthelouverforcomfortableairow.(See“AirDirectionalLouvers”below.)
4. Oncetheroomhascooled,adjustthethermostattothesettingyoundmostcomfortable.
5. Makesurethattheairowinsideandoutsidearenotobstructedbyanything.
AIR DIRECTIONAL LOUVERS:
ThelouverswillallowyoutodirecttheairowUporDown(onsomemodels)andLeftorRightthroughouttheroomas
needed.PivothorizontallouversuntilthedesiredUp/Downdirectionisobtained.MovetheLever(s)fromsidetosideuntil
thedesiredLeft/Rightdirectionisobtained.
CONTROL PANEL:
Thecontrolsfeaturedinthismanualarerepresentativeofmanyavailablemodels.Your
modelmayoerslightlydierentfeatures.
COOL MODE
ThedesiredcoolsettingisselectedbyrotatingtheCOOLINGknobtotherighttothe
appropriate location.
“HICOOL”hasamaximumcoolingeectandairow.
“LOCOOL”hasaminimumcoolingeectandairow.
“MEDCOOL”hasanintermediatecoolingeectandairow.
“OFF”willcompletelyshutotheunit.
FAN MODE
RotatetheCOOLINGknobtothelefttoselectyourchoiceoffanspeedsforair
circulation. NOTE: When selecting a fan speed, the compressor will NOT run.
THERMOSTAT
Thethermostat(“TEMPERATURE”knob)isusedtosetthedesiredroomtemperature
whentheunitisbeingoperatedintheCOOLmode.
Tosetthedesiredroomtemperature,rotatethetopknob(“TEMPERATURE”)tothe
desired setting. After the set temperature is achieved, the thermostat will automatically
start and stop the compressor in order to maintain the desired set temperature.
Rotatethethermostatselector(“TEMPERATURE”knob)clockwiseforhighercool
settings. Higher cool settings will provide lower room temperature.
Rotatethethermostatselector(“TEMPERATURE”knob)counterclockwiseforlowercool
settings. Lower cool settings will provide higher room temperature.

AIR FILTER CLEANING
Theairltershouldbecleanedatleasteverytwoweeksoras
necessary.Trappedparticlesintheltercanbuildupand
cause an accumulation of frost on the cooling coils.
● Placeonehandoneachsideoftheunitandtilt-openthe
front panel.
● Takethelterbythecenterandpullitup.
● Washthelterusingliquiddish-washingdetergentand
warmwater.Rinselterthoroughly.
● Gentlyshakeexcesswaterfromthelter.Besurethelteris
thoroughly dry before replacing.
● Asanalternativetowashingthelter,vacuumthe
lterclean.
NOTE: Never use hot water over 104°F (40°C) to clean the air
filter. Never attempt to operate the unit without the air filter.
CABINET CLEANING
● Besuretounplugtheairconditionertopreventshockorre
hazard.Thecabinetandfrontmaybedustedwithanoil-free
cloth or with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water
andmildliquiddish-washingdetergent.Rinsethoroughly
and wipe dry.

WINTER STORAGE
If air conditioner will be stored during the winter, remove
it carefully from the window according to the installation
instructions. Cover it with plastic or return it to the
original carton.

BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE, PLEASE REVIEW THE CHART BELOW
ISSUE POSSIBLE CAUSES
AIR CONDITIONER NOT
COOLING ROOM, OR NOT BLOWING
COLD AIR
•Besureunitisnottoolargeortoosmallfortheareaoftheroom.
•Verifythatalldoors,windows,curtainsandanyotheropeningsareclosed.
Verify nothing is obstructing the front grille of unit, such as curtains, etc.
•Allowenoughtimeforroomtocool,especiallyifoutsidetempisveryhigh.
•Checkthatthelterisnotdirtyandlouversareopenallthewayandblowinginthe
desired direction.
•CheckthatunitissettoCOOLmodeandthattemperatureisdownenough(but
not too low).
•Ifunitisnearaheatsource,suchasastove,etc.,relocateunit.
•Ifaircomingfromunitiscooltothetouch,thenunitisworkingproperly;please
doublechecktherstthreebulletpointsabove.
•IfusingFollowMeremotefeature,moveremoteawayfromunit.
•Temperaturesensorbehindairltertouchingcoldcoil.Thesetwoelementsshould
not be touching. Carefully straighten tube away from coil.
•Unplugunitforatleast5minutes.FollowResetinstructionsonplug.

BUT ROOM IS TOO WARM - ICE

only mode.
•Airltermaybedirty.Cleanlter.RefertoCareandCleaningsection.Todefrost,
set to FAN only mode.
•Thermostatissettoocoldfornight-timecooling.Todefrostthecoil,settoFAN
only mode. Then, set temperature to a higher setting.
AIR CONDITIONER CYCLING ON
AND OFF TOO FREQUENTLY OR
NOT ENOUGH
•Besureunitisnottoolargeortoosmallfortheareaoftheroom.
•Removegrilleandmakesurethetemperaturesensorisnottooclosetothecoils.
These two elements should not be touching. Carefully straighten tube away
from coil.
•Makesurenothingisblockingthegrilleorsidevents.
•Makesurethereisnodirtordebrisinsidetheunitoronthelter.
UNIT WILL NOT TURN ON
•Resetcircuitbreaker.Makesuretherearenottoomanyitems(i.e.lamps,TV’s,
etc.)workingothesamebreaker.
•Checkplugconnection.
•Ifplugisoperatingonanon/oswitch,besurethattheswitchis‘on’.
•Trypluggingunitintoanotheroutlet.
•Unplugunitforatleast5minutes.FollowResetinstructionsonplug.
