CURRENT DEVICE:
The power supply cord contains a
current device that senses damage
to the power cord. To test your power
supply cord, do the following:
1. Plug in the air conditioner.
2. The power supply cord will have
TWObuttonsontheplughead.Press
theTESTbutton.Youwillnoticea
clickastheRESETbuttonpopsout.
3. Press the RESET button. Again,
youwillnoticeaclickasthe
button engages.
4. The power supply cord is now
supplyingelectricitytotheunit.(On
some products this is also indicated
by a light on the plug head.)

STEP 1:
PREPARE THE WINDOW
Lowersashmustopensucientlytoallowaclear
vertical opening of 14 inches (355.6 mm). Side
louvers and the rear of the AC must have clear air
spacetoallowenoughairowthroughthecondenser
for heat removal. The rear of the unit must be
outdoors, not inside a building or garage.

STEP 2:
PREPARE AIR CONDITIONER
A. Remove the air conditioner from the carton and
placeonaatsurface.
B. Removetoprailfromtherearofthepackaging
material as shown in Fig. A.

C. Align the hole in the top rail with those in the top of
the unit as shown in Fig. B.
D. Securethetoprailtotheunitwiththe3/8″screws
as shown in Fig. C.
NOTE: For safety reasons, all four (4) screws MUST be
securely fastened.
STEP 3:
INSTALL THE ACCORDION PANELS
NOTE: Top rail and sliding panels on each side are
osettoprovidetheproperpitchof5/16″tothe
rear. This is necessary for proper condensed water
utilizationanddrainage.Ifyouarenotusingthe
side panels for any reason, this pitch to the rear must
be maintained.
A.Placeunitonoor,abenchoratable.Holdthe
accordionpanelinonehandandgentlypullback
thecentertolltheopenend.SeeFig.1.
B. Slide the free end “ ” section of the panel directly
into the cabinet as shown in Fig. 2. Slide the
panel down. Be sure to leave enough space to slip
the top and bottom of the frame into the rails on
the cabinet.

C. Oncethepanelhasbeeninstalledonthesideof
thecabinet,makesureitsitssecurelyinsidethe
framechannelbymakingslightadjustments.Slide
the top and bottom ends of the frame into the top
and bottom rails of the cabinet. (Fig. 3)
D. Slide the panel all the way in and repeat on the
other side. (Fig. 4)

STEP 4:
INSTALLING THE WINDOW AC
A.Keepingarmgripontheairconditioner,carefully
place the unit into the window opening so the
bottom of the air conditioner frame is against the
window sill (Fig. 5). Carefully close the window
behind the top rail of the unit.
NOTE:Checkthatairconditioneristiltedback
approximately3/4″to1″(Fig.5above)(tiltedabout
3° to 4° downward to the outside). If, after proper
installation, condensation does not drain from the
overowdrainholeduringnormaluse,adjustslope.
B. Extend the side panels out against the window
frame (Fig. 6).
STEP 5:
INSTALL SUPPORT BRACKET
A.Placethelockframebetweentheframeextensions
andthewindowsillasshowninFig.7.Drive3/4″
(19mm)or1/2″(12.7mm)lockingscrewsthrough
thelockframeandintothesill.
NOTE: Topreventwindowsillfromsplitting,drill1/8″
(3 mm) pilot holes before driving screws.
B. Drive3/4″(19mm)or1/2″(12.7mm)locking
screws through frame holes into window sash
(Fig. 8).

C. To secure lower sash in place, attach right angle sash

D. Cut window sash seal foam and insert it in the space
between the upper and lower sashes (Fig. 10).
IF AC IS BLOCKED BY A
STORM WINDOW
Add wood as shown in Fig.11, or remove storm window
before air conditioner is installed.
If storm window frame must remain, be sure the
drainholesorslotsarenotcaulkedorpaintedshut.
Accumulated rain water or condensation must be
allowed to drain out.

carefully remove.
● Becarefulnottospillanyremainingwater

tocool.Thecoolcircuithasanautomatic3minutetimedelayedstartiftheunitisturnedoandonquicklyorisswitched
betweencoolandfanquickly.Thisallowspressureinsideofthecompressortoequalizeandpreventsoverheatingaswell
aspossiblecircuitbreakertripping.Failuretofollowtheseinstructionsmaybeharmfultoyourunit.
To begin operating the air conditioner, follow these steps:
1. Set the thermostat (“TEMPERATURE”) to the highest number (coldest or cooler setting).
2. SettheCoolingknobtothehighestCOOLsetting.
3. Adjustthelouverforcomfortableairow.(See“AirDirectionalLouvers”below.)
4. Oncetheroomhascooled,adjustthethermostattothesettingyoundmostcomfortable.
5. Makesurethattheairowinsideandoutsidearenotobstructedbyanything.
AIR DIRECTIONAL LOUVERS:
ThelouverswillallowyoutodirecttheairowUporDown(onsomemodels)andLeftorRightthroughouttheroomas
needed.PivothorizontallouversuntilthedesiredUp/Downdirectionisobtained.MovetheLever(s)fromsidetosideuntil
thedesiredLeft/Rightdirectionisobtained.
CONTROL PANEL:
Thecontrolsfeaturedinthismanualarerepresentativeofmanyavailablemodels.Your
modelmayoerslightlydierentfeatures.
COOL MODE
ThedesiredcoolsettingisselectedbyrotatingtheCOOLINGknobtotherighttothe
appropriate location.
“HICOOL”hasamaximumcoolingeectandairow.
“LOCOOL”hasaminimumcoolingeectandairow.
“MEDCOOL”hasanintermediatecoolingeectandairow.
“OFF”willcompletelyshutotheunit.
FAN MODE
RotatetheCOOLINGknobtothelefttoselectyourchoiceoffanspeedsforair
circulation. NOTE: When selecting a fan speed, the compressor will NOT run.
THERMOSTAT
Thethermostat(“TEMPERATURE”knob)isusedtosetthedesiredroomtemperature
whentheunitisbeingoperatedintheCOOLmode.
Tosetthedesiredroomtemperature,rotatethetopknob(“TEMPERATURE”)tothe
desired setting. After the set temperature is achieved, the thermostat will automatically
start and stop the compressor in order to maintain the desired set temperature.
Rotatethethermostatselector(“TEMPERATURE”knob)clockwiseforhighercool
settings. Higher cool settings will provide lower room temperature.
Rotatethethermostatselector(“TEMPERATURE”knob)counterclockwiseforlowercool
settings. Lower cool settings will provide higher room temperature.

Theairltershouldbecleanedatleasteverytwoweeksoras
necessary.Trappedparticlesintheltercanbuildupand
cause an accumulation of frost on the cooling coils.

front panel.
● Takethelterbythecenterandpullitup.
● Washthelterusingliquiddish-washingdetergentand
warmwater.Rinselterthoroughly.
● Gentlyshakeexcesswaterfromthelter.Besurethelteris
thoroughly dry before replacing.
● Asanalternativetowashingthelter,vacuumthe
lterclean.
NOTE: Never use hot water over 104°F (40°C) to clean the air
filter. Never attempt to operate the unit without the air filter.
CABINET CLEANING
● Besuretounplugtheairconditionertopreventshockorre
hazard.Thecabinetandfrontmaybedustedwithanoil-free
cloth or with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water
andmildliquiddish-washingdetergent.Rinsethoroughly
and wipe dry.
● Neveruseharshcleaners,waxorpolishonthecabinetfront.
● Besuretowringexcesswaterfromtheclothbeforewiping
the controls. Excess water in or around the controls may
cause damage to the air conditioner.
● Pluginairconditionerafterunithasdriedcompletely.
WINTER STORAGE
If air conditioner will be stored during the winter, remove

COOLING ROOM, OR NOT BLOWING
COLD AIR
•Besureunitisnottoolargeortoosmallfortheareaoftheroom.
•Verifythatalldoors,windows,curtainsandanyotheropeningsareclosed.
Verify nothing is obstructing the front grille of unit, such as curtains, etc.
•Allowenoughtimeforroomtocool,especiallyifoutsidetempisveryhigh.
•Checkthatthelterisnotdirtyandlouversareopenallthewayandblowinginthe
desired direction.
•CheckthatunitissettoCOOLmodeandthattemperatureisdownenough(but
not too low).
•Ifunitisnearaheatsource,suchasastove,etc.,relocateunit.
•Ifaircomingfromunitiscooltothetouch,thenunitisworkingproperly;please
doublechecktherstthreebulletpointsabove.
•IfusingFollowMeremotefeature,moveremoteawayfromunit.
•Temperaturesensorbehindairltertouchingcoldcoil.Thesetwoelementsshould
not be touching. Carefully straighten tube away from coil.
•Unplugunitforatleast5minutes.FollowResetinstructionsonplug.

set to FAN only mode.
•Thermostatissettoocoldfornight-timecooling.Todefrostthecoil,settoFAN
only mode. Then, set temperature to a higher setting.
AIR CONDITIONER CYCLING ON
AND OFF TOO FREQUENTLY OR
NOT ENOUGH
•Besureunitisnottoolargeortoosmallfortheareaoftheroom.
•Removegrilleandmakesurethetemperaturesensorisnottooclosetothecoils.
These two elements should not be touching. Carefully straighten tube away
from coil.
•Makesurenothingisblockingthegrilleorsidevents.
•Makesurethereisnodirtordebrisinsidetheunitoronthelter.
UNIT WILL NOT TURN ON
•Resetcircuitbreaker.Makesuretherearenottoomanyitems(i.e.lamps,TV’s,
etc.)workingothesamebreaker.
•Checkplugconnection.
