CheckingtheFirmware
Firmwareissoftwarethatdeterminesthefunctionalityofnetworkdevices.Oneofyourrstactionswhentroubleshootingaproblem
shouldbetocheckthecurrentrmwareversion.Thelatestversionmaycontainacorrectionthatxesyourparticularproblem.The
currentrmwareversionintheAxisproductisdisplayedinthepageSetup>BasicSetupandinSetup>About.
UpgradingtheFirmware
WhenyouupgradetheAxisproductwiththelatestrmwarefromAxiswebsite,theproductreceivesthelatestfunctionalityavailable.
Alwaysreadtheupgradeinstructionsandreleasenotesavailablewitheachnewrelease,beforeupgradingthermware.
Toupgrade,followtheseinstructions:
1.Savethermwareletoyourcomputer.ThelatestversionofthermwareisavailablefreeofchargefromAxiswebsite
atwww.axis.com/techsup
2.GotoSetup>SystemOptions>Maintenanceintheproduct’swebpages.
3.UnderUpgradeServer,clickBrowseandlocatetheleonyourcomputer.ClickUpgrade.
Afterstartingtheupgradeprocess,alwayswaitatleast5–10minutesbeforerestartingtheproduct,evenifyoususpectthe
upgradehasfailed.
AXISCameraManagementcanbeusedformultipleupgrades.Seewww.axis.comformoreinformation.

Yourdealerreservestherighttochargeforanyrepairattributabletofaultyupgradebytheuser.
Preconguredandcustomizedsettingsaresavedwhenthermwareisupgraded(providingthefeaturesareavailableinthe
newrmware)althoughthisisnotguaranteedbyAxisCommunicationsAB.
EmergencyRecoveryProcedure
Ifpowerornetworkconnectionislostduringtheupgrade,theprocessfailsandtheproductbecomesunresponsive.FlashingredStatus
indicatorindicatesafailedupgrade.Torecovertheproduct,followthestepsbelow.Theserialnumberisfoundontheproduct’slabel.
1.InUNIX/Linux,typethefollowingfromthecommandline:

InWindows,typethefollowingfromacommand/DOSprompt(thismayrequirethatyourunthecommandpromptas

2.Iftheproductdoesnotreplyin30seconds,restartitandwaitforareply.PressCTRL+CtostopPing.
3.Openabrowserandtypeintheproduct’sIPaddress.Inthepagethatopens,usetheBrowsebuttontoselecttheupgrade
letouse.ThenclickLoadtorestarttheupgradeprocess.
4.Aftertheupgradeiscomplete(1–10minutes),theproductautomaticallyrestartsandshowsasteadygreenonthe
Statusindicator.
5.Reinstalltheproduct,referringtotheInstallationGuide.
Iftheemergencyrecoveryproceduredoesnotgettheproductupandrunningagain,contactAxissupportatwww.axis.com/techsup/
