Maximumbitrateletsyousetatargetbitratetohandlebitratelimitationsinyoursystem.Youmightseeadeclineinimagequalityor

framerateastheinstantaneousbitrateiskeptbelowthespeciedtargetbitrate.Youcanchoosetoprioritizeeitherimagequality

orframerate.Werecommendthatyoucongurethetargetbitratetoahighervaluethantheexpectedbitrate.Thisgivesyoua

marginincasethereisahighlevelofactivityinthescene.

Targetbitrate

Averagebitrate(ABR)

Withaveragebitrate,thebitrateisautomaticallyadjustedoveralongerperiodoftime.Thisissoyoucanmeetthespeciedtarget

andprovidethebestvideoqualitybasedonyouravailablestorage.Bitrateishigherinsceneswithalotofactivity,comparedtostatic

scenes.Youaremorelikelytogetbetterimagequalitywheninsceneswithalotofactivityifyouusetheaveragebitrateoption.You

candenethetotalstoragerequiredtostorethevideostreamforaspeciedamountoftime(retentiontime)whenimagequalityis

adjustedtomeetthespeciedtargetbitrate.Specifytheaveragebitratesettingsinoneofthefollowingways:

•Tocalculatetheestimatedstorageneed,setthetargetbitrateandtheretentiontime.

•Tocalculatetheaveragebitrate,basedonavailablestorageandrequiredretentiontime,usethetargetbitratecalculator.
