Avoidsolidandreectiveobjects
Mostsolidobjects(suchaswalls,fences,trees,orlargebushes)inthecoverageareawillcreateablindspot(radarshadow)behind
it.Metalobjectsintheeldofviewcausereectionsthataffecttheabilityoftheradartoperformclassications.Thiscanlead
toghosttracksandfalsealarmsintheradarstream.Forinformationabouthowtohandlesolidobjectsandreectivesurfaces,

Positioning
Installtheproductonastablepoleoraspotonawallwheretherearenootherobjectsorinstallations.Objectswithin1m(3ft)to
theleftandrightoftheproduct,thatreectradiowaves,affecttheperformanceoftheradar.
Ifyouinstalltheproductonawall,itneedstopointawayfromthewallatleast15°.
Rollangle
Theproduct'srollanglemustbenearlyequaltozero,whichmeansthatradarshouldbelevelwiththehorizon.

Theradarcanbetilted0-30°,buttherecommendedmountingtiltofthedeviceis15°.Tohelpyouachieve15°tilt,makesurethe
backpartofthechassisislevel,asshownintheillustration.

Coexistence
IfyoumountmorethaneightAxisradarsoperatingonthe60GHzfrequencybandclosetogether,theymayinterferewitheachother.

Youcaninstallmultipleradarstocoverareassuchasthesurroundingsofabuildingorthebufferzoneoutsideafence.
Coexistence
Theradar’sradiowavescontinuebeyondthedetectionarea,andcaninterferewithotherradarsupto350m(380yd)away.This
iscalledacoexistencezone.

Thisradaroperatesonthe60GHzfrequencyband.Youcaninstalluptoeightradarsoperatingonthe60GHzfrequencyband
closetoeachother,orfacingeachother,withoutcausingproblems.Thebuilt-incoexistencealgorithmcanndasuitabletime
slotandfrequencychannelthatwillminimizeinterference.
Ifaninstallationcontainsmorethaneightradarsoperatingonthesamefrequencyband,andmanyofthedevicesarepointingaway
fromeachother,thereislessriskofinterference.Ingeneral,radarinterferencewillnotcausetheradartostopfunctioning.There
isabuilt-ininterferencemitigationalgorithmthattriestorepairtheradarsignalevenwheninterferenceispresent.Awarning
aboutinterferenceisexpectedtohappeninanenvironmentwithmanyradarsoperatingonthesamefrequencybandinthesame
coexistencezone.Themainimpactofinterferenceisdeteriorationofthedetectionperformance,andoccasionalghosttracks.

AXISD2210-VEwithmultipleAXISD2110-VESecurityRadar,whichoperatesonthe24GHzfrequencyband,withoutinterference.

Environment

tamperingandsabotage,theyneedadditionalprotection.Theirwishistotriggeranalarmwhenhumansapproachthebuilding.
However,thescenecontainstreeswithswayingbranches,ametalfencethatcouldcausereections,andevensmallanimals
movingaroundthesite,whichallcouldcausefalsealarms.
Toreducefalsealarms,theycongureascenariointheradar’swebinterfacesothatanapproachingobjectmustcrosstwovirtual
linesbeforeanalarmistriggered.Thiswillhelptotriggeronobjectsthatintentionallymovetowardsthebuilding,whileobjectsthat
justhappentocrossoneofthevirtuallinesarelteredout.

Forexample,whenavehiclewithaheightof4.5m(15ft)is50m(164ft)awayfromaradarthatismountedataheight
of8m(26ft),theradarshadowbehindthevehiclewillbe50m(164ft).However,iftheradarismountedataheightof
12m(39ft),theshadowbehindthesamevehiclewillonlybe23m(74ft).

scenariototriggeronvehiclesmovingatspeedsbelow5km/h(3mph).
Monitortrafcowatanintersectiondirection
Togetanoverviewofthetrafcowandthedirectionvehiclestravelinabusyintersection,trafccontrolinstallsaradarona
gantryabovetheroadleadinguptotheintersection.Theysetupalinecrossingscenariointheradar’swebinterfacewherevehicles
mustcrosstwolinestotriggeranalarm.Whentheycongurethescenario,theyplacetherstofthetwolinesoverthelanesleading
uptotheintersection,afterthepedestriancrossingtoavoidvehiclesstoppingattheline.Theyplacethesecondlineoverthelanes
leadingtotheright.Thevehiclesmustcrossbothlinesinthespecieddirectiontotriggeranalarm.Toavoidtriggeringonmorethan
onevehiclepercrossing,theylowertheminimumtriggerdurationinthescenariofrom2to0seconds.
Tomonitorthetrafcowinalldirections,theycreateonescenarioforeachdirection.
