CARBON MONOXIDE WARNING
WARNING
Lack of ventilation can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
Carbon monoxide poisoning can kill.
Carbon monoxide is a highly toxic, odourless, colourless and tasteless gas created
by the incomplete burning of fossil fuels, usually due to lack of oxygen.
The signs of carbon monoxide poisoning are headaches, dizziness and/or nausea.
Should these signs be noticed the affected person(s) must get fresh air
immediately. Turn off the heater and have it fully serviced before using it again.
Pregnant women, persons with heart or lung conditions anaemia or under the
influence of alcohol are more likely to be affected by carbon monoxide than
others.
Due consideration should be given to the dangers of carbon monoxide and a
carbon monoxide detector/alarm should be installed in the room where the
heater is located. The alarm should be compliant to the latest regulations and
installed as to the manufacturers instructions.

alarms can be found in BS EN 50292:2002.
Provision of a carbon monoxide detector/alarm SHOULD NOT be
regarded as a substitute for correct use and proper regular servicing.
Features of your Heater
The gas supply to this heater is by means of a high pressure hose connected to a
gas cylinder via a pressure regulator.
When the regulator gas valve is opened, gas
will flow to the gas control valve and then on
to the burner assembly. The heater can be
operated at three settings using 1, 2 or 3
burner plates.
This heater is designed to be used with a
15kg LPG/butane gas bottle. Gas bottles are
not supplied but are readily available from
builders’ merchants or specialist gas suppliers
etc.
The minimum surrounding air temperature
for this heater is -50˚C
The maximum is +40˚C.
Ignition Components
The igniter is located to the side of the pilot
light. When the ignition button is pressed a
spark is generated which ignites the gas. Heat
from the flame is sensed by a thermocouple
which is connected to the flame failure valve.
As the thermocouple heats, a small voltage is
produced which opens the safety cut off
valve so that the control valve opens and the
pilot flame is established.

Safety Components
This heater contains a number of safety devices that will cause it to shut down in
unsafe conditions.
The flame failure valve will shut off the gas if the flame extinguishes for any
reason. The thermocouple cools down and the gas supply is shut off so the heater
shuts down automatically.
The oxygen depletion sensor will shut off the gas valve if the CO
2
concentration in
the room where the heater is located exceeds a preset value. The room should
therefore be well ventilated.
The anti-tilt switch will turn off the heater if it is tipped over. If this activates, set
the heater upright, check for damage and wait 15-20 minutes before attempting to
relight the heater. This device may also operate if the heater is bumped, knocked
against or moved whilst lit.
Installation
Whilst unpacking, check the heater for any damage and if any is found do not use
the heater and notify your retailer immediately.
The only assembly required is to connect the gas supply.
DO NOT attempt to operate the heater with any gas other than LPG/Butane.
DO NOT connect the heater to the mains gas supply.
This heater, including the hose and regulator assembly must be inspected before
each use and at least annually by a qualified service engineer. If the hose shows
signs of excessive wear or if the hose is cut it MUST be replaced.

Positioning the heater
The heater must be located on a firm, level surface to minimise the risk of
accidental tipping and the gas bottle should be held by the bottle retainer.
DO NOT operate this heater with the gas bottle in any other than the upright
position.
Ventilation
This heater must only be operated in a room which is well ventilated.
Do not operate in a caravan, boat or any room less than 40 cubic metres in
volume.
Ventilation is essential to reduce the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning and
from oxygen depletion.
WARNING: IF FRESH OUTSIDE AIR VENTILATION IS NOT PROVIDED CARBON
MONOXIDE POISONING COULD OCCUR.
Adequate ventilation should also reduce the possibility of condensation occurring
and lessen the dangers from the presence of any undetected gas leakage. The
following table shows the smallest size of room for each heat setting and the
ventilation which should be provided.

Testing for leaks
This must be carried out in a well ventilated area free from any open flame or
other sources of ignition. With the regulator connected to the gas bottle slowly
turn on the regulator and proceed as follows:
1. Brush all those connections including pipe connections to the gas valve,
regulator connection to the gas bottle and gas bottle valve with a 50:50 solution
of soap and water.
2. A stream of bubbles forming is an indication of a leak. If a leak is found, turn off
the valve on the regulator, disconnect the regulator from the gas bottle and
remove the gas bottle to a cool well ventilated area.
3. Contact your retailer or a qualified engineer for assistance.
4. After leak testing is satisfactorily carried out and no leaks are found, it may be
necessary to twist the gas bottle slightly to allow the regulator and hose to fit
into the rear of the heater without kinking the hose.
Lighting the Heater
The heater can be regulated to one of three
heat settings, LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH.
1. Open the valve on the gas regulator.
2. Press down and turn the gas control on
the heater to the LOW position. Do not
release the gas control.
3. After 10 seconds press the ignition button
until the pilot light at the bottom of the
burner ignites.
4. Continue to hold the gas control down for
10-15 seconds after ignition. If the pilot
light goes out when releasing, repeat the
above operation.
NOTE: The first time you use a new heater
you may have to hold the gas control down
for a little longer in order to purge air from
the system.
DO NOT USE THE HEATER IF A LEAK IS FOUND
DO NOT USE A NAKED FLAME FOR LEAK TESTING
DO NOT OPERATE ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN THE PRESENCE OF A GAS LEAK
