D. Defrost
DANGER
Risk of Fire or Explosion Flammable Refrigerant Used
• Do not use mechanical devices to defrost.
• Do not puncture refrigerant tubing. Risk of re or explosion due to puncture of
refrigerant tubing; follow handling instructions carefully.

1. Undercounter and Worktop Refrigerators
Off-Cycle Defrost: Undercounter and worktop refrigerators defrost naturally between run
cycles and also have a 5-hr. cumulative non-heated defrost cycle. The 5-hr. cumulative
compressor run time defrost timer starts once compressor is energized.
• 5-hr. Cumulative Compressor Run Time Defrost: After 5 hrs. of cumulative
compressor run time, defrost initiates.
The minimum defrost time is 5 min.
The maximum defrost time is 45 min.
• When the 5-hr. cumulative compressor run timer terminates, the minimum 5-min.
defrost timer and the maximum 45-min. defrost timer starts. Compressor and
condenser fan motor de-energize. Evaporator fan motor remains energized.
• When the defrost thermistor reaches 44°F (6.7°C), or the maximum 45-min. defrost
timer terminates, defrost terminates. Evaporator fan motor remains energized and
compressor and condenser fan motor energize.
2. Prep Table Refrigerators
Off-Cycle Defrost: Prep table refrigerators defrost naturally between run cycles and also
have a 5-hr. cumulative heated defrost cycle. The 5-hr. cumulative compressor run time
defrost timer starts once compressor is energized.
• 5-hr. Cumulative Compressor Run Time Defrost: After 5 hrs. of cumulative
compressor run time, defrost initiates.
The minimum defrost time is 5 min.
The maximum defrost time is 45 min.
• When the 5-hr. cumulative compressor run timer terminates, defrost initiates and
the minimum 5-min. defrost timer and the maximum 45-min. defrost timer starts.
Defrost heater energizes. Compressor, condenser fan motor, and evaporator fan
motor(s) de-energize.
• When the defrost thermistor reaches 46°F (7.7°C), or the maximum 45-min. defrost
timer terminates, defrost terminates. Defrost heater de-energizes, compressor,
condenser fan motor, and evaporator fan motor(s) energize.
